The Southern Poverty Law Center claims that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students have been harassed by students and faculty members within the Moss Point School District.
The allegations came out Thursday at a press conference at Magnolia Junior High School. The SPLC also revealed information from an investigation of harassment of students in the Moss Point School District.
The group sent a letter to the district demanding immediate action in ending anti-gay bullying, according to a press release. If they do not take action, the SPLC said they will file a federal lawsuit.
The investigation comes as a result of complaints from former student Destin Holmes. Holmes identifies as a lesbian and claims she was often referred to as "he" and "it" by faculty, and was denied access to the girls' restroom.
Holmes left the school district in March 2012 and is now homeschooled.

Is Rachel Maddow the mother?
Actions have consequences. you choose poorly dear.
That’s a girl?
“Holmes identifies as a lesbian and claims she was often referred to as “he” and “it” by faculty, and was denied access to the girls’ restroom.”
If her claims are accurate, the SPLC will win the case.
Bunch of sissies.
Was anyone forced to wear a white armband?
Destin is a male name.
The SPLC needs to devise a list of ungendered, transgendered and nonspecies names. That should keep the loons busy for a while.
The SPLC fits their own definition of a ‘hate group’. Has anyone implicated them in the DC Family Research Council shooting yet?
SPLC is even more reprehensible than the ACLU, if that is possible. What they did to the Family Research Council was despicable. They almost got a lot of people killed by inciting that left wing whacko to attack.
hoooooo.. Look up the word “guilty” and there is the picture.
“Actions have consequences. you choose poorly dear.”
A choosing to go into the girls’ restroom is not a bad choice on her part. If the school actually denied her access to the girls’ restroom, they are the ones who made a poor choice.
Well, I don't think it is. Both are bottom feeders, and the bottom is the bottom.
Actions have consequences. you choose poorly dear.
A girl choosing to go into the girls restroom is not a bad choice on her part. If the school actually denied her access to the girls restroom, they are the ones who made a poor choice.
My cousin taught for the Moss Point schools prior to Katrina while she and my Aunt lived with my mom. Moss Point is just as liberal as any other school district, from what I saw.
No, a 16 YO male or female going around baiting people with the gay agenda is a poor choice. If she wants to pretend she’s a guy and her appearance/clothing/sexual preference shows she does) then she does not belong in a female restroom until she damn well acts like one.
I disagree. ACLU is consistent even on occasion to take our side.
I didn’t know Moss point HS had any white students left.
That’s right, 2ndDivisionVet. There are A LOT of Democrats in Moss Point.
I had a sissyfied frog in the pond behind the house taking some flak from the bulls. The butch/lesbian frogs straightened that matter out ASAP.
This gender war is just hell ain't it.
When the rule of "if it feels good, do it" is in effect, there is no right and wrong. So just stick your wee-wee anywhere you like and keep the SPLC on speed dial.
I tried to load my AR-15 with my wee-wee. Don't recommend it. It didn't feel good at all (those sharp-edged picatinny rails are insensitive to human flesh)...it must not be right.
And please don't tell me I need to add a /sarc.;-)
