Jail the messenger? The predicament of a military whistleblower(Code pink alert)
Al Jazeera ^ | 27 Mar 2013 | Priti Gulati Cox

It is interesting to observe how the US government and major media are staying silent on the case of Bradley Manning, the 25-year-old private first-class in the Army who leaked a vast collection of classified documents to the whistleblower website WikiLeaks.

Those of us who consider him a true American hero for what he did can finally heave a sigh of relief now that the word "accused" need no longer be affixed to his whistleblower status.

On February 28, before a military judge, Manning acknowledged responsibility for releasing the information and pleaded guilty to 10 of the 22 charges facing him. This partial plea could mean a 20-year sentence, but the prosecution hopes to put him away for life for "aiding the enemy" - the most serious of the 12 charges to which he pleaded not guilty.

In his statement at the pre-trial hearing, Manning stated:

"I believe that the public release of these cables would not damage the United States, however, I did believe that the cables might be embarrassing, since they represented very honest opinions and statements behind the backs of other nations and organisations."

“BRADLEY MANNING, YOU ARE A HERO OF SUFFERING AFGHANS.”

Well that’s just a slap in the face to those who’ve actually been there and put their lives on the line for the sake of security and giving the Afghans a shot at a better way of life.

"...Those of us who consider him a true American hero for what he did can finally heave a sigh of relief now that the word "accused" need no longer be affixed to his whistleblower status..."

Those of us who don't support murderous terrorists like Al Jazeera are dismayed, because WE think this treasonous POS should be hung by the neck until dead for treason.

Anybody know if Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, is still hiding out in Ecuador's embassy in London?

I'll bet the embassy staff are thoroughly sick of that guy.

They should just toss him out on the sidewalk and go back to their regular lives.

Watching the ignoramus who sits in our White House, the one to whom all elected legislators bow down to, including those of the opposing party, the one whose wife cannot stand America, the one who takes vacations as often as we cut our lawns, the excuse of a man who makes the decisions that control where our intelligence bureau snoops and where our service men will enter into combat is enough to keep most Americans awake at night.

I don’t have the faith that I once did in the justification of the missions our military forces now perform. I question every move they make because I no longer believe they are fighting for our freedom. What was the comment that he made to the Russians about having more flexibility after the election? Flexibility for what? To take our firearms from us? To declare war on our individual liberties? The restrict our medical care? To destroy our national economy? To introduce socialism into our culture as a standard of living? Or will it be using drones to observe every little thing we do in our daily lives?

The person I see as committing the illegal act of aiding the enemy is the man in the White House and the men in the Pentagon who are allowing the DHS to assemble a store of war supplies that can be used against the American civilian. This behavior has been unheard of previously but is accepted as the norm these days. The fact that our legislators are aiding the enemy when they refuse to investigate the questions we have about this man. Questions into this mans background that were considered normal for every other previous President but him! Our elected officials betray their oath every day they don’t search for the truth. And I’m not talking about a sorry investigation such as the one about Fast and Furious.

No, there was a time when I would have said, “Shoot him”, referring to Bradley Manning. These days, I pray we have more military men and women who betray their oath.

I pray every day that we have more Bradley Manning’s step forward and tell us what corruption and collusion they see from their position in our military.

I have a tough time convincing myself that the men and women in military service today are serving America and not their Commander in Chief, the one who wants full control over every American of every age.

Sorry, ranch.

I cannot agree with a statement like that.

Do you truly believe that Obama has our nations best interests at heart? I don’t think he wants to uphold the Constitution or the Bill of Rights. So, I want everyone to work against him and that includes our military personnel.

Manning’s work got people killed. He’s a nasty little faggot who did what he did because he was mentally ill and angry.

Obama’s work got people killed. He’s a nasty little faggot who did what he did because he was mentally ill and angry.

So why are you upset with Manning when BHO has done the same thing many times.

It’s not “either/or”. Of coures I loathe and abhor 0mozlem infinitely more. Manning is a tiny stinking pipsqueak comparatively, but he is also utterly loathesome, vile, full of hatred, envy and a sick pervert - and his actions got people killed, too.

May they both get what they have coming to them, ASAP.

B4Ranch, I understand part of what you feel, but I cannot take common cause with our enemy, of whom Bradley Manning is one.

I can not justify any action that POS took, because his motives are base and at odds with my beliefs.

I am sorry to read your post, I see a lot of pain there. And I understand, but cannot agree.
