Chicago police made 28 arrests Saturday night after teenage “mob action” and so-called “wilding” disturbances rocked parts of the city.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported a “melee” erupted along the famous Magnificent Mile shopping district and that a group of women were attacked on a city transit bus.
CBS Chicago WBBM-TV reported many innocent tourists and shoppers were caught in the middle of the chaos of teenagers purposely bumping into each other and starting fights among themselves.
“You had a group of teens, close to maybe 500. They assaulted a Chicago police officer that was on a mounted on a horse and all of a sudden they assaulted a citizen walking the streets, just a normal citizen shopping and enjoying the weather,” community activist Andrew Holmes told WBBM.
Seventeen arrests — 15 juveniles and two adult men, ages 18 and 19 — were made near Chicago and Michigan avenues after police came across “a number of kids fighting amongst themselves” around 6 p.m., Chicago police spokeswoman Amina Greer told the Sun-Times. Those arrested were charged with reckless conduct.
In a separate incident, 10 juveniles and one adult, an 18-year-old woman, were charged with battery after police said they attacked a group of women on a bus around 6:30 p.m.
Later Saturday night, WBBM reported a man was jumped and punched in the face by a group of teens.
Much of the activity was reported to have been planned weeks ago on social media, according to the station.
“I caution those parents if their child has been arrested which numerous teenagers have been arrested tonight, that you need to think about your child. Just don’t say the Chicago police picked on your child, when we were watching all the assault going on, especially by teen women,” Holmes told WBBM.Yuri
“And say what you will about Mayor Daley, he wouldn’t have put up with this crap, his cops would have broken some heads.”

I’d be willing to bet that this was a’flashmob’, organized on Facebook or Twitter - so these 500 ‘teens’ were able to gather and strike at the appointed time. That would be very hard for any police force to deal with.

Gee, if concealed carry were legal, there would have been a bloodbath. Of nothing at all, since the yoots probably would never have gotten the bit in their teeth if they knew their prey was armed.

It's a gorgeous city, great tourist trap for people from all over the US, school kids on trips ( been their done that as a chaperone ) and many are probably the folks that the Rahm's and Obama's look down on, us the great unwashed who may actually have dollars for such a place...
But if the word gets out the Miracle Mile is a war zone with "Wildings" and eventually gun fire, who is gonna go their? Those tourist dollars will dry up so quick it won't even be funny.
The lack of parenting of these misbehaved youth, their sense of intitlement via who's at 1600 Penn and lack of 2nd Admendment rights in the city especially for shop holders have this situation IMHO being an errant banana peel waiting for a skateboard to hit it...

I witnessed a “flash mob” of young black youts in Wash DC last year. It was amazing how quickly they massed up, perhaps 50 of them looting a vending truck. Those Obamaphones are a great communication device.
In this case, perhaps because DC is loaded with LEOs of various types, the response was nearly as quick and larger than the attack.
I wonder how soon it will be when these “wilding” and “flash mobs” start carrying guns, and using them.....
I don’t remember any of this stuff happening so frequently before the jug-eared jerk head was in office...
