Do you find it ironic that a black person (Melissa Harris-Perry) said this on a MSNBC promo?

MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry:

"We have never invested as much in public education as we should have, because we've always have kind of a private notion of children. Your kid is yours and totally your responsibility. We haven't had a very collective notion of 'these are our children.' So part of it is we have to break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents, or kids belong to their families and recognize that kids BELONG to whole communities. Once it's everybody's responsibility, and not just the household's, then we start making better investments."

BELONG? BELONG???? BELONG to whole communities??????

I wouldn't be surprised if most people say that the aforementioned is rather disturbing and unsettling. But for this to come from a black person, be it a man or a woman is rather ironic.

Does anyone else find this ironic, or find it to be rather ironic?

Do we/did we belong to a state or group of states? Hmmm?

Was that ok?

Rhetorical questions... /the answers are self evident...

Most parents seem all too happy to give up the responsibility for educating their children. We would have better educated children if they didn’t.

The irony of a black woman wanting children to be the responsibility of the State somehow escapes me, as do most things these days of serfdom.

No, I don’t find it ironic. Black America sold its soul to Marxism/Communism/Socialism back in the 70’s because we thought we would get “what we deserved” after having been kept on the outside of society for so long. But, liberal promises and policies are a poison. With the destruction of the black family, a collectivist vision such as Harris-Perry’s was inevitable. Malcolm X warned us about this and nobody listened.

Ironic? Yes and moronic. Her slave ancestors children didn’t belong to their parents. They belonged to the master and his ‘’collective’’ i.e his plantation. This womans mother was white. Harris-Perry say’s of herself ‘’I’m black’’. She is a Marxist through and through. She has a daughter. I wonder if she feels her daughter is ‘’hers’’ or belong to the ‘’community’’.

You belong to the government. Don’t worry, government will do what is good for government and you might just benefit, too.

Remember folks . . . Hitlery said “It Takes a Village”. . . . Not new, just in less cryptic language. . . both of which are utterly criminal in nature and intent!

This 80% illegitimacy rate / let the black community parent them / deal isn’t working too good.

She is too stupid to understand the irony of the slavery concept she is promoting.

I've been expecting it.

40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

Doing exactly the opposite of what the leftard is suggesting is how Ben Carson’s mother produced a groundbreaking doctor and thinker.

Little Ben may have gone to a public school but his mom was in charge at home.

I don’t find it ironic in the least. I’m probably crossing one of the “politically correct” lines that are drawn everywhere to restrict our speech, but I suspect that she KNOWS that a significant chunk (very sad for the kids involved, but true) of black teenagers today do not have their fathers raising them (and many not their mothers either). Since these kids are effectively abandoned by one or more of their irresponsible parents, Ms. Harris-Perry wants “the collective” (that’s you and me by the way) to be responsible for raising them (or at least be responsible for financially providing for them).

Sorry, but I don’t want to do that. Let Darwinian law take effect and the spawn of the irresponsible can die off, kill one another or spend their life in prison (hopefully before they’ve been able to reproduce yet another generation).

We truly live in an age of total idiocy when sh!t like that can be put out in media unquestioned. And tell me again Baraq why mini-Moosechelle isn’t going to those excellent DC public schools?

The Republicans freed the black slaves, but only their bodies.
Their souls are still held captive by the Democrats.

It is sadly ironic that so many African-Americans crave dependency; perhaps this is a legacy of slavery. The double irony is that she wants YOU to enslave yourself, through a perverse sense of moral obligation to support any offspring someone else can fire-and-forget. We breed-em’, you feed-em!

No sale, Melissa. You breed-em’, you feed-em!

Somebody needs to come up with some artwork showing children on the auction block with the school superintendent acting as the buyer.
