AN EXPERT delving deep into the history of Nessie spotters is to reveal his findings on the 80th anniversary of the first modern-day sighting.
Dr Charles Paxton, a statistical ecologist from St Andrews University, is working on the first catalogue of all known sightings of the Loch Ness monster in modern times.
The researcher will present his findings at a conference this weekend, organised as part of the Edinburgh International Science Festival.
The special event organised by the St Andrews academic marks the 80thanniversary of the first official sighting of Nessie.

The thing that gives that photo away as a fake are the waves. Either the loch ness monster is 6 inches tall or the lake has 10 foot waves.

Despite all the rumors to the contrary, the Loch Ness Monster probably didn’t sire DearLeader. Nessie is far too handsome (notwithstanding the sexual fantasies of Michelle or even Chris Matthews).

muy interesante ~ that loch could well form an even higher soliton ~ when you have 3 meter waves ~ not just a single wave ~ the way this works you can have an occasional wave several times higher!
Under the right conditions that could propagate from one end to the other.
For research references you'll want to check out 'soliton', 'rogue wave', loch

A statistical ecologist! Makes me laugh, an expert on something that may not even exist. Bet he gets a six figure Obama paycheck.

The bonny perfesser must be getting very comfortable government grants to supplement his university wages while spending a substantial amount of quality time out on the bounding loch.
Of course, I'll wager the grants come from the taxpayers via the Scottish Ministry of Tourism. Any bets?
