Thanks. Yeah, that’s a stupid ad. But I still like their product.

The expression "Wienerschnitzel" means "Viennese cutlet," a slice of veal which is breaded. The only relationship it has with hot dogs is that Wienerwürstchen, or wieners, also originated in Vienna.

The franchise was originally called "Der Wienerschnitzel," but it should have been "Das Wienerschnitzel," since the noun is neuter.

Interesting but fifteen is my limit on Schnitzengruben.

Wow, they were still owned by the same person (basically)? I wish they hadn’t changed. Back in the 70s, they had the Best shoestring fries & baked beans! (Does anyone remember what the chili on chili dogs used to be like? Yikes! I would pay BIG money for the real thing)
We never eat there now.

Don’t worry....There’s a new wiener on the horizon.

Until now I had not realized that they dropped the incorrect article der years ago (it should be das).

Das is grammatical, but not accurate.

A wiener is clearly a Der!

The wiener part is OK--but Schnitzel is a diminutive, and those are always neuter in German (even when it logically makes no sense--Ma+dchen, "maiden," is neuter).

This was my first ever job. Woe to you if you crossed me in the drive through, as I’d dump your weinerschnitzel in the grease pit before giving it to you!

They had the best chili dogs ever back in the 70s.

I got back from Germany in the late 60’s and saw one of these Weinerschnitzel joints and thought “fantastic”. That’s when I found out they were hot dogs. I like hot dogs but I love Weinerschnitzel.

I believe the Wienerschnitzel chain sponsored a top fuel dragster in the late 1960s. I remember seeing it at a local drag strip.
