Authorities in Gainesville, Fla. have charged William Daniel Lloyd with discharging a firearm in public and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, after he reportedly tried to shoot a squirrel for dinner by taping a .40-caliber cartridge to the muzzle of a Pumpmaster 7670 BB gun. Lloyd, 31, was treated and later released for shrapnel wounds when the cartridge exploded. The condition of the targeted squirrel was not reported. The Gainesville Sun

yep
Oh I know. It was a rhetorical question.
“Try the Raptor pellets.”
I have 3 tins of Hollow Point Hunting Pellets
1 tin of Extreme Knockdown Power Pellets
1 tin of Destroyer Hunting Pellets
How is a Raptor different? I am new to pellet guns.
But the squirrel might have died laughing.
Friends and I used to put .22 shells on the top of a bb gun.
In hindsight, pretty stupid.
“.22 CCI Mini-caps are quieter than a .177 air rifle IMO.”
I have the CCI Minis for my 22 long rifle.
I got the Walther pellet handgun without the blowback feature, so it’s quiet. The blowback feature makes a louder noise and the pistol kicks. That’s to make it more like a real handgun but I wasn’t interested in that. I wanted a quiet gun so the neighbors wouldn’t hear a loud noise.
There's a place for all the Lord's creatures!
True, but tape makes a lousy firing chamber and barrel.
The Crossman Pump Master 760 (I don’t know what a 7670 is) can kill a squirrel all on its own, if you know how to use it.
That particular air rifle IS a pellet/BB gun with pump action.
It can take out a squirrel with no problem.
Looking at that guys face though: the lights are ON, but no one is HOME!
The air rifle didn’t get him in the soup, but even ONE round of ammo can get a convicted felon a bunch of grief, just like he’s finding out.
He used a .40-caliber for squirrel hunting and imagined he’d get dinner? Ignoring the other aspects of his stupidity, which have been thoroughly covered (except for why he didn’t lie and say “someone” shot the pellet/.40 combo and injured him), did he not consider how much dinner you’d get out of a squirrel if he managed to hit with a .40 cal, even with the limited velocity from no barrel? The only smart thing he did was getting medical treatment so they could eventually lock him up again away from dangerous situations like making his own decisions.

I shoot a MAC 1 USFT in competition and it runs 890 fps +- about 10 fps. Below is a similar one.
BTW, that’s an “unreasonable” tack driver, they run around $2300 without the scope...
Yeah, but it can double as a prosthetic leg.
This has got to be one of the dumbest things ever.
ARF!
The cringe factor in the mental image of the barrel crunching into the ground at each step is massive...
You have taken pellet guns to a whole new level Sir, I like it.
