Former counterfeiter says new $100s not worth attempting

PHILADELPHIA, - A former counterfeiter told a Philadelphia radio station he "wouldn't even attempt" to counterfeit the new $100 bills if he returned to his life of crime.

Wayne Victor Dennis, who was convicted of printing $15 million in fake $20 bills that were so convincing authorities said the currency spent years in circulation after he went to prison, told KYW-AM the new $100 bills contain many security features, but the most intimidating feature is a 3-D ribbon made of thousands of tiny lenses.

Images of bells on the ribbon turn into 100s when the bill is tilted.

"It's a great idea and I think it would be the most difficult part to counterfeit on this new bill," Dennis said.

"I would never -- but if I chose to go back into that profession, I would never even waste my time on this currency," Dennis said. "If I was to go back into that business, I wouldn't even attempt it because there's just too much sophistication."

What one government can make another government can fake.

In our case, the government is doing both. The U.S. is making the best fake money in the world!

The amusing irony is that one of the counterfeiters most frustrating to the US Secret Service was a retired old man who every now and then counterfeited $1 bills. Poorly.

These 100’s are backed by the FULL faith AND credit of the Federal Government. What could possibly be more tangible than that?

I remember about 1958 when I was 7. Dad would come on Friday and always ask “Hon, did you get a twenty today?”

Today I ask Mrs. POF did you get $200 today and it’s the same purchasing power, maybe less than Mom & Dad’s twenty.
