A neighborhood kitten was rescued Sunday by the Lauderhill Fire Department after being stuck in a wall for days.

“It’s an excitement for everybody but we are glad the kittens are out and safe,” said Alberta Peterson, sister of the cat’s owner.

The family had been hearing the cat for days and was unable to rest, and they decided to call 911. Fire rescue crews made various holes in the house but they were not able to locate the cat.

“It took two agencies and approximately 10 firefighters to get this kitten from a wall, it was pretty well hidden” said Lieutenant Jerry Gonzalez.

Finally, firefighters had to insert a camera through the wall to find the kitten.

I remember when I was a kid, I had to stay at my house alone for a week because my Dad was away for national guard, and my mom had to travel out of town to visit a sick relative, and there was some kind of animal trapped behind my bedroom walls. I’m not sure what it was, but it scratching and pounding like crazy to get out. It was definitely too big to be a mouse or even a squirrel.

It would often make a loud moaning noise like a sick cow. I remember it scared so much hearing it every night for a week, but I think it freaked me out even more when it finally grew quiet because I knew it was dead.

What a horribly sad story. Didn’t you tell anyone or check it out later?

Ancient stuff like that makes us feel guilty, in spite of ourselves - even when it was absolutely not our fault and there was nothing we could do to help the situation. I think everyone has similar experiences like that which are just a part of living and being human.

All in all, it’s just another cat in the wall...

I read this story a while ago:

Creepy when Poe writes it. Sad when it's a real kitty.

Gee, I can’t help but think how lucky that kitty was to be a kitty and not a human baby in an abortion clinic.

That too. Poe’s stories are the place to go for morbid - there or Pelosi’s legislation.

We got a stray kitty once and kept it inside until it would calm down. I went on a business trip and the kitty came up missing. I called home several times. Then late at night, I called one final time. My son said “hold on, I hear something.” Turns out the cat had gotten into the sock drawer and someone closed it. Worse, she was between the drawer and the back of the dresser. Just small enough not to get crushed. Woof. Turned out to be a beautiful cat.
