The agitated sandwich shop customer disliked the pickles. Now shes in one with the cops.
A Massachusetts woman who ordered a steak-and-cheese sub at a subway station was so angry about too many pickles on her sandwich that she punched an employee and shoved two jars of pickles at her, transit police said Monday. The jars shattered and the customer fledwithout the sandwichbut the brine-covered employee managed to catch up with her and hold her until transit and local police arrived .
The incident happened Saturday at the Nathans Famous Hot Dogs at the Quincy subway station, the transit police said.

well well....
solid red, too, eh?
thanks!
i will start shopping for one
gee? well, I would not hesitate to try that back in my old college dorm (since it had already been condemned by both the city engineer and the health department). But, I’d not want to burn our own home down.....?
Maybe not, I never eat those. Definitely on a cheezbruger
Nah, it’s just what they use on hot dogs to give them that little something “extra”. Careful though, if you use too much, you won’t taste anything but the salt.
I think the problem there is not the preparation, but the sausages. Most good Italian restaurants are making their sausage from scratch, with their own recipe.
Steamed dogs, and steamed buns is the trick. The brand of dog is Costco’s own. They used to exclusively sell Hebrew National, but then there was a problem getting the Kosher meat, and Costco developed their own, or so it was written in their magazine a number of years ago.
We like to steam the dogs/buns, but our trick is to slice the steamed dogs in half, and then the halves in thirds prior to putting them on the buns. The sort of shredded dogs seem to distribute more flavor throughout our “hot dog sandwiches” when we do them that way. We most often use large Sara Lee hamburger buns, or our own home made buns of which I might put the recipe to the weekly cooking thread someday. It’s a Bread Machine recipe I posted multiple times since 1999 on the internet at various cooking sites as the topic came up.
when shopping for the solid red hot dog steamer per your note, we came across this one at only $21 instead of the c. $90 for the red one.
the customer ratings on this one are quite good.
i wonder, can you see anything obviously wrong or less desirable about this cheaper one? we’d like to save the money if we can...
but if the red one is superior for some reason, then for sure that’s the answer! oh, so long its been...for a really good home-made hotdog!!!
thanks
!!!!
(not necessary for anyone to buy thru this vendor, there are many other sources)
IIRC, the Costco cafe umbrellas advertise “Sabrett” dawgs. We buy Nathan’s Famous at Costco, but I can’t imagine they don’t sell Sabrett.
Knuckle sandwich - it’s what’s for dinner.
ok thanks i will order some celery salt!
it will be SO nice to get the COstco Snack Bar hotdog effect at home!
Oven, Grill, Microwave, Boiling...all fail to deliver the goods. (Not that Im a good cook, indeed even the cats won’t eat some of my failures)
but thanks!
The new Costco hot dogs taste exactly the same as the former Costco HNat hot dogs did. And they have exactly the same ingredients lists. My best guess... is that they are still coming from the same source, just carrying the Costco name now is all.
Can’t prove it.
Just looks (and tastes) like it.
Costco does like to have a lot of the things in its store carrying its own house brand.
And for certain, the Costco snack bar hotdogs are the most popular thing on offer at the Costco store. So it would make sense that they just decided to switch over to their own branding on these?
Again, I could be wrong... just guessing is all
and THANK YOU so very much for your great ideas! Much appreciated, fhc
Should have gone to Burger King and had it her way.......
That little guy is fabulous!
ok. we went ahead and ordered the nice red one you recommended (it has a special compartment to soften or heat up the buns, in addition to steaming the hot dogs -— this extra feature could help make a more authentic, Costco-type experience — a dry or stale bun is always a bummer!)
Thanks for the recommendation, and idea!
(Lord knows we’ve tried everything else... ha!)
thank you!
I like Costco hot dogs, too. But...my fave hotdogs are at Gray’s Papaya in NYC. They still have their recession special...two (roller grilled) hotdogs and a drink for $4.95.
good for you!
I’ve heard that Nathan’s serves some great hot dogs in NY too (we can get their grocery hot dogs but somehow I like the Heb National kind better, just a matter of taste I guess)
