I like Nathan's hot dogs grilled over charcoal and hickory chips until they are just slightly scorched. Then in warm bun, top with mustard, ketchup, red onions and sauerkraut. ---- Yum... [There was 'Freds Famous Hot Dog's in a certain city. It was a standing room only place, as if it was put in a space that was between two large buildings. Good hot dogs there...]

A truly great hot dog, perfectly cooked, needs no toppings.

Yellow mustard and, optionally, sauerkraut — no ketchup, no relish, no BBQ-sauce.

Use to like those red onions. Not anymore...no more cast iron stomach. Mustard with or without sauerkraut is about all I like anymore. Never ever ketchup

I eat hotdogs a couple nights a week at a minimum (usually two at a sitting). Love em.
I like the dogs split down the center and cooked in a skillet until somewhat scorched. And the buns I like toasted opened and face down in a skillet until crispy.
Served plain with mustard or any number of classic toppings, from coleslaw to kraut to relish to chili to a thin slice of dill pickle.
Yummmmm!

Sliced open, stuffed with cheddar, wrapped in bacon and grilled until the cheese oozes and the bacon is crisp. Serve in a toasted bun with your toppings of choice.
I like to use Hebrew National Hotdogs. Ironic?

There is only one proper way to eat hotdogs!
First, a thin spread of mayo on both sides of the bun, for a moisture barrier.
Next, a layer of sliced pickled jalapenos. Then, a thin layer of good (beanless) chili. Then, another layer of the jalapeno slices. Then, another layer of chili.
Now! add the hotdog!.
On top, more jalapeno slices, more chili, liquid cheese, onions, more jalapeno slices and top with sliced tomato.
