‘Boy or Girl?’ Gender a new challenge for schools
Associated Press ^ | May 28, 2013 12:41 PM EDT | Martha Irvine

From the time they are born, we put our boys in blue beanies and our girls in pink ones. It’s a societal norm, an expectation even, that you just are what you are born—a boy or a girl. From early on, we divide toys and activities by very distinct gender lines, with superheroes and trucks and muck on one side and princesses and dolls and all things frilly on the other.

Many children land, enthusiastically, on the expected side. Others dabble in both “girl” and “boy” things. But what if your kid, even from an early age, mostly showed interest in doing opposite-gender things? More importantly, what if they wanted to BE the opposite gender—or a less-defined mix of both? And what if they wanted to test those limits in public places, like school?

Would you let them? …

Some experts predict that views on gender will evolve in much the same way they have for sexual orientation, since homosexuality was removed as a mental illness nearly four decades ago. Today, the gender spectrum includes those who are transgender, who see themselves as the opposite gender, and those who are gender variant, or gender nonconforming, whose gender is more “fluid.” For kids, it means they identify part of themselves as boy and part as girl. …

I did some research. GID (Gender Identity Disorder) exists in less than 1% of the population. Currently there is a movement to remove GID from the DSM, as was done with homosexuality, purely for political purposes.

“Something is wrong when a courageous and determined woman is described as “ballsy”!”

How about replacing it with “ovarian”?

Well, I suppose age is a factor here. ;-)

All this “gender” rubbish doesn’t change the fact that your chromosomes determine what sex you are, and there’s not a damn thing anybody can do about it.

The actual number of cases where a child is born with a genetic abnormalities that could result in “gender” issues at all are so incredibly rare, and can be dealt with appropriately.

If I had a child that had such an issue, I would consider homeschooling for them. Heck Homeschooling for all my kids anyways.

When I was little, I wanted to be a giraffe.

I wanted to be Superman.

Fortunately, I grew up with parents who understood the difference between what a 6 year old wants and reality.

If you have a Y chromosome you are a boy.

Home fun telling someone with CAIS (Complete Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome) this.... Especially if they are conservative....

I am sure Susan and Michelle and Cindy will just think you are just awesome and helpful calling them a Boy.....

If you see your daughter playing with a truck, do you think that’s normal, or do you decide she is crying out to be a boy, and go from there?

You let her play with the truck, maybe add a light touch of encouragement to play with girl toys. But if she pushes back against that suggestion, don’t get bent out of shape with it and let her be a “tom boy” she will no doubt grow out of it.

But you never plant the suggestion in her head that she is something she is not, which is what a libtard parent would do.

Only a sith deals in absolutes.

Transgender is a choice, medical anomaly is a fact.

XX = girl
XY = boy

God dosen’t make mistakes.

So are you saying Satan Causes Complete Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome?

Just curious, maybe we should burn people with CAIS at the stake as witches... XY chomosomes but develop in the womb as sterile females.

What about Women with only one X chromosome ie. Turner Syndrome. Maybe we should murder them in the womb as abominations since as they don;t have two X’s or an X and a Y they obviously are neither a boy or a girl and therefore not human.

Same could be said for people with Downs too....

God doesn’t make mistakes right... So people with chromosome disorders are obviously the spawn of the devil....

Are you calling Trig Palin a spawn of satan. Maybe you should read up on genetics before you make stuipid statements.

God has a plan for everyone, even those with chromosome issues....

Used in a Sentence: Sarah Palin sure has a big set of Ov’s...

Hmm, could work...

When I was in first grade, the kids signed up for activities for recess. I signed up for jumprope because it sounded like fun. I was the only boy there. I thought “well, I guess I’m a boy who’s more like a girl.”

Thank goodness I didn’t have this transgender stuff hanging over me back then. It turned out it was just a phase. I now am a happily married man who likes watching football, doing workouts, and playing poker.

Well said.

I was a tomboy. Climbing trees was just about one of my favorite activities. I did not prefer playing with boys, but I was very active and just loved climbing trees and monkey bars and such, which, in my day, was considered boyish and not done by many boys. I suppose these idiots would have been telling me that I was not really a girl.

Boys have johnsons. Girls don't have johnsons. It's not that complicated.

The last thing I want is someone with a johnson in the ladies room when my girlfriend is there.

Leave it to the libs to want to elevate the 1% above the 99%...

Wait, did I just hear a hippie’s head explode....?

Funny how the 99% will be crushed on the altar of Political Correctness, in favor of the 1% who are different. While if someone becomes the 1% by their own hard work and becomes rich the 1% is then scorned for being a sucess financially while on their own terms someon born of the 1% in gended confusion will be how we are supposed to treat the 99%....

Liberalism, if it were consistent it wouldn’t be consistently inconsistent...

Liberalism should be listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
