Being confident and loud is the best way to win an argumenteven if you are wrong, a new study suggests.
Researchers from Washington State University drew this conclusion after studying the activity of Twitter users. The more opinionated they were, the more influential and trustworthy they were perceived to be.
They analyzed more than a billion tweets posted during various American sporting events, including the 2013 Super Bowl, to the test whether being accurate or being confident made Twitter users more popular.
Despite professional pundits and amateur fans making a similar amount of correct and incorrect predictions, the tweeters who yelled louder were seen as more trustworthy and had more followers.

WSU trying to validate the Alinsky theorem. The best way to win an argument? Shout louder than everyone else and people will simply assume youre right
It worked for Biden vs. Ryan.
Very good observation!
Feigned outrage wins arguments for liberals. Bill Clinton was a master, Hillary used it in her faux testimony on Benghazi, and even Bob Beckel uses it on 'The Five'. The MSM considers the case closed when one of their beloved plays the outrage card.
We’ll have to go to the graveyard for verification, of course . . .
Seems that the people studied are far smarter than the people studying them in this case. Would not people who deserved credibility on the subject by virtue of knowing about it be more likely to be opinionated on the subject?
the study analysis used Twitter. How does one shout on Twitter? ALL CAPITAL LETTERS? WORTHLESS ARTICLE ABOUT A WORTHLESS STUDY. There.I win.
I am a WSU grad...sigh.

Depends on how bad one’s aim is.
The Second Amendment comes along right behind the First Amendment because some people are hard of hearing (or, because they are such loudmouths they can’t hear above the sounds of their own asinine voices).
Thanks Olog-hai.
They let you think you won so you’ll shut up.
Then they walk away and let you bask in your ignorance.
And laugh about your arrogance.
And tell everyone what a dumb, loudmouthed jerk you are.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
Yes. But real value to me comes when I get past the headline and into the article, because the study wasn't about "shouting." This is telling: The leftist headline writer thinks having an opinion is "shouting." It only seems that way to him.
"Give 'em Hell, Harry!" Harry Truman replied, "I don't give them Hell. I just tell the truth about them and they think it's Hell."
Very true. But I, being a loud-mouthed jerk, have already met all these people and they've come to their own conclusions. If they think I'm a jerk, they already know. If they think I'm a good and knowledgeable fellow, they know that too. Either way, that a-hole that goes around slamming me is going to be the ultimate loser.
Walk proud. You won.
There are members of my wife’s family who live by this. Nobody thinks they’re right.
I’ve got ‘em in my family too.
They then walk away.
Not sure that is "winning".
