COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah Authorities say a Utah deer was mortally wounded after she mounted a moving sport bike during rush hour.
Cottonwood Heights Police Sgt. Scott Peck says the doe dashed into traffic about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday and leaped onto the motorcycle.
Peck says the 19-year-old rider was knocked off and slid about 100 yards, while the bike kept going for about 300 yards.
The deer was disemboweled by the impact, fell from the motorcycle almost instantly and later succumbed to her injuries.
Police say the rider was wearing protective gear and appeared to suffer little more than road rash.

I can’t stop laughing! Stop it, Joe.. right now!
You’re a hoot!!
I’m having trouble working out the actual logistics of this. Was the motorcycle sitting at a light in traffic or moving real slow? How did this doe decide, “I’m gonna mount that there metal stud” and then manage to knock the rider 100 yds (?!)
well, at least the biker was in season ..... to the deer.
This happened to my accountant in Montana about 20 years ago. He got both of his arms broken by the deer.
Traffic moving at highway speed(the motorcyclist slid the length of a football field) + deer = ugly collision. The AP writer was just trying to be clever (and failing, as usual).
I don’t think that “mounting” is the right word in this story. It seems to me that the deer was simply trying to avoid traffic and landed on the moving motorcycle.
Hey, come on - maybe she was in a hurry.
I'll bet it was something like this, only the bike was a bit faster and the deer a bit less agile. Look both ways before crossing the street, Bambi.
Some other deer had to put her up to it.
“Jump in fronta that bike. Do it. You’ll give that human a good scare. I dare ya.”
Few years ago a stallion jumped over a fence
and slammed into a pickup truck and
crashed it off the road.
Truck totaled,
Stallion unscathed.
Story reminds me of this video.

A quickie on the run can be hazardous to anyone or anything’s health.

A female deer was doing the mounting? Interesting.
