i also notice at times the prop turns clockwise then counter clockwise, it that due to the prop being relatively near the frame rate/shutter speed???
normally with film cameras i only see it as the prop spins up from start or spins down during shut off which i attributed to passing through the frame rate of the camera

Yes. The propeller is not running at a constant speed, so what you’re seeing is speed changes in the propeller.

She’s a beauty! A small local airport near me has had a visit of several WWII aircraft the last couple of summers. One is a two seater variant of the Mustang. They were offering rides, but I couldn’t justify/afford the $400 per half hour!
