Paris Jackson: Facebook Destroyed Her
TMZ ^ | 6/26/2013

Paris Jackson's deep depression has been largely the result of bullying ... and Facebook has been hosting the haters.

Sources closely connected to Paris tell TMZ ... the 15-year-old has been reeling from comments left on her Facebook page --- many about Michael Jackson and his lifestyle. Some of the comments involve the various molestation allegations ... others involve the odd life Paris lived while Michael was alive.

We're told Paris has taken the comments very personally ... and one source says, "They destroyed her." The source adds, there's a nexus between the bullying and her penchant for cutting.

Now here's the problem. Paris does not have access to her Facebook page while she's in the psych ward at UCLA Medical Center. But her family is deeply concerned that she'll backslide if she goes back on Facebook when she gets out.

The family is extremely frustrated, because they've tried to shut down Paris' Facebook page, but they can't --- Facebook's policy is that the family of a user has no right to shut down an account if the user is 13 years of age or older.

Paris' family believes Facebook could create yet another tragedy in the Jackson family, but they're powerless to do anything about it.

Kids unsupervised on the internet. A bad idea.

Having a pedophile for a “Dad” probably did more to destroy her.

Facebook is proving to be a bigger problem than anyone expected. A majority of reported bullying cases are coming from social media, specifically Facebook. That should say something.

Michael Jackson's kid is messed up? Well, knock me over with a feather!

I know! Let's blame total strangers for this sad and unexpected turn of events!

What sort of person would elect to spend their own free time annoying Paris Jackson?

Kids are susceptible to peer pressure, and Facebook is the ultimate pressure-amplifier. It preys on the need so many have to be noticed, to be popular and “liked” but has the potential to do just the opposite.

Everything in life has risk, but parents let kids treat Facebook as a toy when they’d never do the same with other potentially dangerous things. How much parental responsibility was shown by her father or current guardian is anyones guess.

So the parents can’t shut it down because she’s over 13. OK, and she can’t shut it down herself because ....?

Having one of the world’s most well-known known freaks for a dad didn’t help either.

Run your own DNS at home:

A facebook.com 127.0.0.1

It’s not perfect, but it’s a good start.

Being a fifteen year old girl is already a mental illness. Compound that with who her father was. And then amplify that through Facebook and internet trolls.

It was only a matter of time before her baggage train derailed.

You can do that by editing the /etc/hosts file.

I believe in Windows it’s C:/Windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts.

Then add an entry facebook.com 127.0.0.1

Turn her computer off, she is 13. Freaking idiots for parents.

I'd like to see a DNA test to confirm the pedophile is the natural father.

I wouldn't be surprised if the pedophile simply paid both donors and he "bought" his victims children.

No way he is the biological father.

Anyone who believes MJ is her actual father needs to lie down for a while.

My first thought was that she should have chosen her “friends” more carefully. I have friend request all the time but if I do not know them, forget it. No one can post on her page without her approval. She can also delete anyone she wants. In fact, I deleted a dem who was very critical of conservatives. I knew her from school. If they were sending messages directly, don’t read them. Everyone can be a victim if they want to be one. I do not want to be one so I am careful both on the Internet and when I go out. I am aware of my surroundings. I am blessed that most of my friends are Christian Conservatives. Others do not say. The Internet can be wonderful but it can be a pain, too. It is up to the user.

I am deeply sympathetic to this poor child — and she is a child. Her existence was commissioned by freaky Michael Jackson, who used donor sperm and paid the girl's biomom to go away. She was raised without a mother or a real — meaning masculine — father in about the strangest environment you could imagine. I don't think we should criticize her when she is so obviously and understandably suffering.

Doing that would only prevent her from accessing facebook on that specific computer.

While that's good, it wouldn't keep her from accessing facebook from any other computer that doesn't have that hosts file entry in it. I was thinking more along the lines of her parents ensuring/insisting that she delete her facebook page herself since they can't do it for her. (Maybe I'm just too old school in thinking that parents can actually exert some control over their kids.)
