An Indian airline has hit on possibly the worthiest excuse yet for hiring slim women as cabin crew -- it saves fuel and therefore money.

While some airlines admit to hiring women for their sex appeal, budget carrier GoAir has told The Times of India it will be hiring predominantly female flight attendants in future because they are 15-20 kilos lighter on average than men.

flew across the Pacific to HI on a 141
Not sure what a 141 is, but have been on many C130s. Forty five years later and I'm still sore ... and deaf!

Those were the days. Nice seats, nice service, nice food.

“Multiply that times the number of attendants and flights per year.”

So? Small potatoes.

Multiply the number of gallons loaded and the variance in the accuracy of the fuel on board and you find you are being extremely silly in trying to save 48 pounds. If that is the case then rip out the carpets, the extra toilet paper rolls, the water, the interior plastics, the seat coverings, cutback on the oil in the engines, the sheepskin pilot seat covers. Hell, make everyone stand and remove the seats.

If an airline is so hard up to make profit, I can tell you from direct experience that they could remove many, many $150,000+ salaried employees to make up that piss-ass difference.

Filipino cruise ship crew ...
Plus, they tend to be very personable and hospitable, making them valued service employees. Also, musical talent is fostered, and many of the musicians are Filipino.

Did the Alaska cruise last year in early June ... later in late September we cruised the Aegean boarding our ship in Istanbul. Both ships had mostly crew members from the Phillipines and other southeast Asia countries. Very friendly and within a day or so many of them knew us by our first name. Also, when they had a 'crew' evening talent show to entertain the passengers many were quite talented musicians and singers.

I’ve got an idea.... midget pilots and copilots! You’d shave off a couple hundred pounds right there.

Homosexual male flight attendants played a “seminal” role in spreading HIV around the world. People that have a hobby of becoming butt blood brothers, sometimes a thousand times over, should not be in flying cattle cars visiting a hundred cities every month. Male flight attendants helped indirectly kill 500,000 in America alone. This pales in comparison to the other risks of airline travel.

“hiring slim women as cabin crew — it saves fuel”

hmmm, I can think of another characteristic that would let them save money on flotation devices as well!

(that’en there don’t need no life vest, she couldn’t sink if she wanted to.)
