With the frenzy surrounding the George Zimmerman trial continually growing, CNN last night hosted a panel discussion on the use of the derogatory n-word versus cracker, asking Which is worse? in light of star witness Rachel Jeantels claim that the late Trayvon Martin said he was being followed by a crazy-ass cracker the night of his own murder.
Don Lemon, who has taken up the mantle of exploring the n-word and its ramifications on CNN this past week, played moderator to the debate featuring Marc Lamont Hill, actor LeVar Burton, musician Wynton Marsalis, activist Tim Wise, editor Michael Skolnik, and filmmaker Rochelle Oliver.
Despite the segments open-ended question headline, the panelists all seemed to agree that the n-word is far worse than cracker, given the fact that black and white are not the same, and one has a deep history rooted in oppression whereas the other derogatory phrase references white peoples position of power.
Although the segment aimed in earnest for a serious discussion on the two phrases, Twitter comments indicate the the premise left many wondering: What more was needed to be said when the segments own title clearly spells out one word while purposely avoiding spelling out the other?

What about Hymie? /s
Democrats have always been racist
Nigger is far worse than cracker due to the history. There is no question. Anyone who denies has a severe case of persecution complex. Blacks have been truly institutionally persecuted, whites have not been.
So I guess fag is worse than cracker too. How ‘bout raghead and muzzie? The rocket scientists on the CNN “panel” need to hit them all so we’ll have the scoop on this stuff. This stuff is important. Especially now that we’ve got Whitey the Liberal out there playing the race card all of the time.
Heh. My comment from last Friday upon reading some goof-ball’s commentary where he wrote “creepy-a.. - cracker” with the middle word censored in his article.

creepy-a cracker,
I wonder if it had been Zimmerman calling Martin a creepy-ass nigger what word would have been censored?
I love being called a cracker. That gives me license to call the epithet launcher a nigger (Oops, I meant n-word).
stupid discussion given they aren’t even saying one of the words they’re debating.
I’m not up on my Jewish slurs. I’ll defer to Jessie Jackson Sr.
is wmf the worstest??
“This stuff is important.”
It would be helpful if they could print them all out on a wallet-sized card too.
There was some guy on TV last night (reporter - not some comedian!) with two index cards. And asking which words were okay to use.
One had nigga written on it, the other had nigger.
Crackas ain’t “offended” by their derogatory name. So the ther one must be worse.
How about Jesus?? Apparently you can’t say that in our schools
Feh. Just stick with “poopyhead” ;-)
White boy is worse than cracka.
