Charles Carr, the 19-year-old kid at the wheel of a powder-blue Caddy when Hank Williams Sr. died in the back seat just after midnight on Jan. 1, 1953, has passed away. Carr, 79, was the last person to see the legendary singer-songwriter alive.

The movie seemed to be pretty accurate, and was enjoyable, with some good music, especially an excellent rendition of 'I'm so Lonesome I could cry' by Jett Williams.

While Jimmie Rodgers claims the title Father of Country Music, Hank Senior was the one who electrified country music as Elvis did rock and roll. Sadly, both met similar fates.
I don’t have vivid memories of many things in my life but this one I do. I was living with my grandparents in a very rural area. It was a cold day and I was sitting by the wood stove and listening to the radio when the news came that Hank had been found dead.
I was shocked and I can remember thinking, “No, not Hank, not Hank!”
He was my idol. No one could put raw emotions into songs like Hank.
