Academic and journalistic research over the past five years shows the key role of Nazi figures in the partys founding and development. After strong similarities were revealed between an initiative by Germanys neo- Nazi NPD party last year in a state parliament to demarcate Israeli products and a Green Party federal initiative in the Bundestag to impose a similar system on Israeli goods ...

There are Green Party clones all over Europe these days. Their influence is not small, to be sure, even if their governmental representation is relatively so.
Eco-fascists. Ecology is their fig-leaf, fascims is their soul. Of course, this is not limited to Germany.
Cloning is certainly a great way to express the multiplication of Green Party members throughout Europe! -http://www.americanthinker.com/2012/01/green_lebensraum_the_nazi_roots_of_sustainable_development.html.
This is actually a very old story, in fact it was posted from some other source ten years ago or more here on FR. A german couple wrote an extensive research paper on the green party origins before it’s official founding in fact. They also linked various Nazi philosophies ie blood and earth etc to the fascists. Perhaps I’ll try and search for the old source.
Interesting excerpt of a critique of his prediction here at Amazon...
"The book goes off the rails a bit at the end, when it tries to tie the SS's romanticization of a pre-industrial life with the modern day environmental movement. Graber also clumsily links the SS's pan European appeal (the Waffen SS had thousands of foreign volunteers) with contemporary European integration. However, in Graber's defense, he wrote the book in 1978 when these positions were perhaps a bit more understandable"
Germany of the 1800’s was the primary breeding ground for the modern scientific green movement where the father of German Social Darwinism, Ernst Haeckel, also coined the term ‘ecology’ in 1866/7. Schopenhauer’s and Nietzsche’s philosophical existentialism with its emphasis upon natural existence and nature then hardened Goethe’s German Romanticism. While Schopenhauer was Anti-Semitic, Nietzsche was anti-Christian. There was also a powerful anti-Semitism working among the German greens of the 1800’s as they blamed the Jews for the dirty cosmopolitan cities alien to Germany’s folk national ethos.
I would very much like to read that if you can find it ...
Eco-fascism is no metaphor, but is rooted in Germany’s history like an oak tree so that Nazi Germany was the greenest regime on the planet by 1935. The SS was by far the greenest faction of National Socialism. Many of its leaders, like Himmler, Darre and Hoess, were involved in the nature loving wandervogel youth movement. In fact, one could easily argue the SS was simply a grown up version of the Artamenen wandervogel youth movement. See especially Nazi Oaks - http://www.amazon.com/dp/1597551929.
Thanks for the reference.
As well as for many other scientific 'movements' in physics, chemistry, biology etc. Some or many conceptions of which have since been superseded by new scientific insights (e.g. the aether theory much in vogue throughout the 1800s). That's the way science works.
Some people cling to 19th century concepts, some think 'creationism' is reality. More's the pity...
