MENLO PARK, CALIFORNIA – Passions ran high Sunday night as CNN and other news outlets reported the not guilty Zimmerman verdict. Tweets and Facebook status updates were filled with posts ranging from cries of vengeance to jubilant shouts of joy. Strong opinions were prevalent and as a result more people hit the unfriend and block buttons in any day in Facebook’s history. Said Zuckerberg, “Everybody had something to say about Sunday’s verdict. Charges of racism were thrown around at everyone.

“It says at the top of the page that they made it up.”

See my tagline.

I have seen the fighting going on. I really wonder.

I usually won’t unfriend someone over politics unless that person stoops to using vulgariities. People were using vile language to describe their dislike for Rommey and Palin a lot. Don’t want that stuff showing up on my timeline.

Are you sure?

Positive. When your friends do what you describe, they will no longer see YOUR activity in their newsfeed. That's what that setting is for. It has nothing to do with who else can see it, for sure that friend can no longer see it without going to your timeline. This is also on Snopes as a hoax.

I recently deactivated my account (after removing all my notes, photos and comments). I have not decided if I am going to make it permanent or not.

I actually have a love/hate relationship with Facebook. At times, I just want to delete my account and never venture there again. Other aspects I find useful. As a sailor in the Navy, I move around a lot and FB is a good way for old friends to keep in touch. I also, surprisingly, use it for work. People check their FB more than their email and nobody checks their work email on weekends. When I'm at sea and need something from a co-worker back on the beach, the quickest way to get a response is to send them a FB message.

What I really need to do is nuke my friends list down to only true friends and family members and certain co-workers. This would make FB a lot more tolerable.

I found some people will write things on Facebook that they would never say face to face.

I had been slowly defriending “friends” when they decided to use their Facebook account to share their political views.

Which I would have ignored but those on the left that preach tolerant are very intolerant of those that do not agree with them.

It finally got easier to just take my ball and go home.

You are on the cutting edge. It is possible that Facebook has peaked and you are just one of the leaders leaving it behind.

Lol,...well, I sure feel better getting rid of what was a time-wasting, bad habit. Attention whores “friending”,”unfriending”...”like-ing”..all bullshit.

That would be Atresia. Quit browsing FR and hit those books.

Good luck on your board exam.
