SAN DIEGO The 2013 Hyundai Veloster Zombie Survival machine's official specifications, including such items as a samurai sword, flamethrower and machine gun, have been released.
The second Hyundai zombie fighter promises to be the ultimate weapon in the fight against the walking dead. A vast array of weaponry includes a baseball bat with spikes mounted to the trunk, knife blades that pop out of the rear bumper, a double-barrel shotgun with mount and a front bumper "horde plow."
There's also a roof-mounted PA system with a "doom whistle" and a slit-panel armor-plated front windshield. The exterior of the car features "Vitamin C textured paint" and hand-fabricated armor.
The cabin features "storage solutions for ammo, weapons and a first-aid kit," according to Hyundai. Machete holders are mounted on either side of the seats and replace conventional cupholders.
The car debuts today at the Future US booth at Comic-Con International in San Diego.
The original Hyundai zombie fighter was an armor-plated 2012 Hyundai Elantra.
The custom Veloster is the work of Hyundai, Galpin Auto Sports and Robert Kirkman, the creator and writer of The Walking Dead.
Zombies have become such a key part of popular culture that U.S. health officials include lengthy mentions of them on the Web site of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
"Although zombies are certainly not the only favored supernatural creatures in modern times, they appear to be the best conduit to educate the layman about re-emerging infectious diseases such as rabies," said the CDC.
Edmunds says: Hyundai will trot out its new zombie fighter at any number of upcoming U.S. auto shows, where it will undoubtedly grab the spotlight.
Might even be able to get to an urban emergency room in one of those.
“The new Buicks are out early this year”
I'm sure my last thought, as a zombie is eating my brain, will be, " Gee, I hope I don't get rabies...".
I assume you’re being sarcastic.
Using zombies as a metaphor for infectious disease issues is not a bad way to draw attention to what is otherwise fairly dry material. With the recent MERS and SARS scares, as well as MRSA and the imminent failure of most antibiotics, getting the public on-board about hygiene is going to be important.
It is far too late. WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE!
Some people could have used one of those the other night when the protestors shut down the highway...
I like it. If it had about 300hp I might buy one.
Exactly!
just for fun
chain saws are a nice touch.
What is that? The badge on the grille looks like a “K” from that angle.
It’s a Conquest Knight...a real zombie survival vehicle!
