A litter of seven abandoned kittens now living at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home have been given a royal connection to the eagerly awaited baby Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The cute cats have been given a royal welcome to the animal shelter as each has receiving a royal name (or at least one of the bookies favourites).
The pawsome seven, who were found dumped in a cardboard box two days ago, have been named Alexandra (6-4), Victoria (9-1), Charlotte (6-1), Elizabeth (10-1), Grace (25-1), James (6-1) and George (11-2).
Lindsey Quinlan, the homes head of cattery, said: Theres a lot of excitement and speculation amongst the British public as to whether the baby will be a boy or a girl and then what the name will be.
So we were very excited about that here as well.
With this litter of stray kittens that came to Battersea we decided to give them the royal welcome that they deserve by giving them all a royal name.
Making the most of royal baby fever, Battersea are also holding a special Kitten Shower later this month where feline-loving families can give a royal welcome to the centres new bundles of joy at a free baby-themed event.
Very cute! Hope they all get great homes.
That’s very cute! Thank goodness there’s still a little bit of England left in England.
Do you really think they’d go with James? The humans I mean.
I mean the last James got tossed in favor William of Orange and Queen Anne.
How about Arthur? My friend wanted one of Diana’s sons to be named Arthur.
I suppose they already know if it’s a boy or a girl.
I am really rambling here, I could go on and on, but I’ll stop here and go look at the kittys in the vid!
Amen.
What’s wrong with John? It worked out so well the last time.
LOL! And I guess Richard is out too, but George is just so boring.
Wow, you know what I just realized, this baby will be the great-grandchild of Elizabeth and Philip, that’s pretty amazing. Lucky baby and great-grands!
Lucky indeed. I’m sure that Philip will have some politically-incorrect comments about the occasion.
Royalty is an outdated system based on the passage of power through bloodlines.
Americans can’t get royalty out of their system, and so they obsess over british royalty as if it were their own.
So just look at the cute kittens.
Sleepy pile o’ kittehs.
I like many other male names better, but one has to realize that the range of royal name choices is rather limited....and an heir to the throne will never be named "Trayvon".
Both "King James" and "Jim Windsor" sound pretty good to me.
Leni
Yay!
