..."yesterday's sampling of Lay's newfangled fan-generated flavors was easily our most eagerly anticipated taste test to date. ... quite frankly, a bit out there flavors like Chicken & Waffles, Sriracha, and Cheesy Garlic Bread could translate well as crisp and crunchy chips.... it quickly became clear why Chicken & Waffles had yet to be immortalized in salty snack form. More waffle than chicken many tasters complained of an overpowering fake-maple-syrup flavor most would relegate these to a late-night drunk munchies snack on....."

Growing up, MY “chicken and waffles” was always a plain waffle with leftover chicken and gravy on top. Maybe the last waffle, you would put butter and syrup on.
I am Greek and my grandmother/mother always made a flatbread (filled with feta) in a buttered skillet.
It came out like a big, flat, buttery, crispy and toasty potato chip... with an ATTITUDE! (I always asked for MORE feta in MINE)....
Of course you have to like feta to go for this! Out of this world.
I had “turkey and Dressing” chips in Ireland once. I almost hurled on the spot. Needed a Guinness to get the taste out of my mouth.
PA Dutch Chicken and Waffles is like a pot pie, but instead of crust, has big square egg noodles mixed in.
I sampled the chicken and waffles chips and found them to be just short of disgusting. No amount of beer would make them palatable. However, I am a big fan of Siracha (a Vietnamese style hot sauce) and am anxious to try those chips. The garlic bread chips not so much.
I had “Lamb and Mint” in Scotland, which was probably worse, if you can believe it.
We didn’t like the Chicken and Waffles chips either. I had to find someone to give an unopened bag to...
Why not the obvious popular flavors? Cheeseburger, fried chicken or bacon flavored chips. No weird mixes. I voted for shrimp flavored chips. I picked up a bag of cheeseburger flavored chips once, in Big Lots, made by some regional company up north. They were great. A local company here makes Cajun Craw-taters, slightly crawfish flavored-more spicy than seafood-but kettle cooked and HARD as hell. It’s not rocket science. Cheese and garlic would be good too, but I’d really like bacon. Even bacon flavored crackers are gone, and they were great.
“Sriracha?”
I love that stuff. Gotta big bottle in the fridge. Yum!
These are really good. . sweet and salty!
These new flavors should go great with New Coke.
They rejected my entry:
Cigarette Ash and Placenta.
A lot of potato chips from Pennsylvania are cooked in lard. If you’ve never had them before, you’d call them bacon-flavored.
Here in Canada, the President's Choice brand sell a "Greek" flavour potato chip that tastes mostly like feta to me. They're not too bad.
Other PC flavours include Ballpark Hotdog, Maple and Bacon, Baby Back Ribs, Honey Dijon, and (yes) Beer. IMO some flavours are hits and others are misses, but I have to give them credit for going out on a limb and trying something different. (Now if I could only persuade them to bring back their ginger-beer and lychee-flavoured sodas . . .
