Speed (and transversal) is life. ;)
You bet. yet another reason why this is a thinking man’s game. And one of the ways you can beat a theoritically more experience player. Skills don’t equal smarts.
The point is Eve seems to draw the “to excess” crowd. And not much of anybody else.
I am looking for EVE battle videos on Youtube... heh
I posted earlier that the most fun I had on missions was in an assault frigate.
I had a friend with a battleship that was able to tank a lot of damage. I'd let him warp in and all the NPCs would lock on him. Then, I'd follow in and keep up my transversal speed, orbiting the medium ships at optimal range and picking them off. Then, I'd chase down the frigates while he concentrated on the bigger ships.
If anything locked on me, I was usually going too fast. If I took any significant damage, I'd just warp off and return after they locked back onto him.
Um - that’s simply not the case. Most are casual players. You mistake enthusiasm for obsession.
And your opinion is based upon... what?
Just the people in person and here. And the model of the game. The stripper model (pay for more stuff faster) encourages the obsessive player.
Really I was most shocked to find out it was still around.

are enemy ships always just colored icons like that? You can’t see the enemy ships during battle?
Now compare to Star Trek Online battle

.....
Okay, whether or not the screen should be filled with your own ship is a good question. If you are inside, you shouldn’t be seeing your own ship. But being able to see the other ships, their shield power levels and stuff is pretty cool too.
thanks
You’re simply not making sense. You’ve managed to misconstrue the whole thing. If people having fun disturbs you, then you have more serious problems to deal with. Get some help.
None of it disturbs me. Just pointed out why I don’t play. The fact that you’ve gotten so defensive about it should be something YOU find disturbing, but I don’t, because I don’t care one way or the other.
Yes, you can see the ships. But, you have to be close enough. At the typical battle distances, the ship is just a dot -- unless the ship is really big.
okay, I get it
I’m just wondering if you would say the same thing about those who respond on the firearms threads here on FR. You can hardly find a more dedicated, enthusiastic and even passionate crowd. And I’m one of them.
As for bing ‘defensive,’ I’m simply pointing out the flaws in both your reasoning and observations.
Now you’re the one not making sense. All I did was say I don’t like that model of game, then I pointed out that another poster used language around the game similar to alcoholism (which he agreed with) and he wasn’t the first person I knew who had used that language for that game. There’s no flaws in the reasons OR observation there. Sorry if you don’t like it, but again, YOUR problem not mine. And the fact that you’ve gotten so defensive about this, and tried to weasel into a gun argument, shows I’m right. Now run off to your game, I’m sure there’s another opportunity for you to give the stripper money.
Bye.
Check the link that I posted in my #8. Graphics is everything.
To be successful at the game, how much time per week do you have to spend on it?
EVE = Everybody against Everybody
OK, I tend to get addicted to games, so is this something that one such as myself would have to put boundaries in place for? When I go into the nursing home I’m going to spend long hours playing online RPG games without any consequences.
I will tell you this: it might be the most fun you have in a nursing home, ever.
If not (apart from the trial), your're out 35 bucks.
