Asking for FReeper prayers for my 87-year-old Dad who has been in the hospital for 7 days with a heart blockage. I lost my husband (.45MAN) almost exactly one year ago. Thanking you all in advance.
Thank you so much for your timely prayers....he has been taken down to surgery.....God bless you and yours.
Dad is out of surgery—he had a 95-99% blockage. I am so deeply grateful to ALL of you. Headed over to see him.
We’ll be looking for your good reports!
Prayers lifted
Bless you! Prayers...
Unfortunately, things did not go very well today. I went in to visit him and stayed a couple of hours. Towards the end of my visit, I could see he was laboring to breathe, and asked him if he was having difficulty. He said, “Yeah, it’s a little hard to breathe.” He was on 2 litres of O2 and his O2 sat according to the monitor was only 92-93. I mentioned it to the nurse when she came in to see if she could remove the tube from his femoral artery, and she said it was because he was lying flat. It didn’t sound right, but I let it pass. I ended up going home around 4:30, but my mom wanted to stay longer and my sister would pick her up about 7 pm.
I got a panicked phone call from my mom at 6:30 saying they had called a code indigo on Dad. I went into full “daughter” mode and rushed to the hospital, breaking about 50 laws on the way. When I got there, they were still working on him, and my mom was in the hallway talking to my cardiologist. He is *wonderful.* They had called him in because the arrogant cardiologist who treated my dad was nowhere to be found. Later on, I heard the charge nurse on the phone with the arrogant cardiologist apologizing profusely for stepping on his toes. I was furious, and will take this issue up at a later date.
When they wheeled my dad out to take him to ICU, I barely recognized him. His face was so swollen. After waiting for over an hour, they finally let my mom and nephew (who had to leave because he gets up at 4 am) go in to see him. Then, they let my sister, her boyfriend, and I go in. Dad looked so much better. He was on a bipap, and his O2 sats were 99-100, where they should be. The machine is uncomfortable (.45MAN hated it) and he was trying to talk, so we ended up leaving so he (and my mom) could get some rest.
More to follow. I am so grateful for all of the prayers and support.
Thank you so much. I appreciated your prayers.
Thank you, citizen. I am very grateful for your prayers.
Our prayers continue for your cherished father.
Thank you so much for the painful update.
God be with you all. He *is*.
(((((((onyx)))))))
It has been a rough week. Dad had two stents put in on Tuesday. I went to see him late in the afternoon and told the nurse he was laboring to breathe, and his O2 sats were low (I’m very cognizant of readings after going through 15 hospital admissions with .45MAN). She claimed it was because he was laying flat and would be fine once he was allowed to sit up. I should have gone with my gut and insisted they do more investigating.
An hour after I left, I received a panicked call from my mom that they had called 2 code indigoes on my dad for respiratory distress. I raced (literally) to the hospital just as they were wheeling him out to ICU. I would never have recognized him. He’s very lean, but he looked like a balloon.
Long story short, he was suffering from congestive heart failure due to massive fluid build-up. They got him stabilized in ICU, he spent the night, then was released back to a room yesterday. I fired his cardiologist (who could not be reached during the codes, just hours after surgery) and asked mine to take over the case. He agreed, thank God, and my dad likes him very much.
Today my cat is in for dental surgery. Stressed out much? LOL
Thank you SO much for your prayers. xo
Thank God that you were able to intervene and make the decisions that you did. May God continue to guide the healing process, may the Lord wrap your dad and your family in his healing comforting arms. Blessings, blessings, blessings from our Lord to your father and to you. Will have you in my prayers for continued healing and for peace in your heart.
And many of God’s blessings back to you and your family MWestMom. Your kind words and prayers are so very thoughtful and so greatly appreciated.
Once again, your prayers and kind words come at just the right time. Dad is still undergoing some complications—difficulty swallowing—but we are tackling each of these obstacles. God has been good and He has sent me each one of you to support us in earnest prayer. I am so grateful. xo
To all (and I apologize if I missed anyone) who offered up prayers and encouragement while my dad was in the hospital—I wanted to give you an update. He was released late Friday after 18 days in. It has been crazy with shopping, picking up prescriptions, and setting up home health care. My mom is not in the best of health, and my sister and I want to ease her burden as much as possible.
All of you, without a doubt, were responsible for dad’s recovery after his stent procedure and complications that sent him to ICU. We very nearly lost him on August 6, but he rallied back. The fact that he is home and getting around (albeit slowly) is a miracle unto itself.
*THANK YOU* all—may God bless all of you and your loved ones abundantly. I give thanks to God and ask Him to shower His love and mercy upon all of you.
Blessings, dansangel, for answered prayer. Clearly, God has plans for your father and the best is yet to come.
May the Good Lord keep him and your family.
In Jesus Name, amen
Ping to 135....your name wouldn’t come up for some strange reason.
It is always a pleasure to pray for Fellow FReepers and their Families.
Thank You for the good report!
Oh that’s wonderful news! Thanks so much for the update!
Thanks for the update. Continued prayers for your dad and you and your family.
