I'm looking for a free download, something simple and easy to use. I want to make flyers for advertizing on a regular piece of paper 81/2 by 11 (background) and color text. Any ideas?

If you already have Microsoft Word. It can be done easily with that.
Color the font, size the font, color the background, insert pictures, etc.

I use PowerPoint and the open office version will do basically the same thing.

Smartdraw is a freeware flyer maker.
Smartdraw is NOT freeware. Three versions @ $197, $297 and $497.

Open Office is a free program that mimics MS Office and has several tools that should allow you to easily make flyers.

OpenOffice comes with a bunch of lousy fonts.
Only recently, I learned how to install new fonts—which are available free at many sites. You just drag or paste them to the FONTS folder in your System folder.
