Vegetarian credits Sausage McMuffins for helping carry triplets to full term

A British woman credits in vitro fertilization (IVF) -- aided by daily breakfasts of sausage McMuffins to help carry her triplets to full term -- after failing for 10 years to get pregnant the old-fashioned way.

Vegetarian Laura Dixon, 34, and husband Tim, 34, of Essex, tried three times with IVF to have a family, but was unsuccessful twice; the first attempt was abandoned and the second try ending in a heartbreaking miscarriage after eight weeks, SWNS.com reports.

Laura was in her third round of IVF when she conceived and decided to boost her odds of carrying to full term by increasing her protein intake with regular servings of meat.

The long-awaited news that she was pregnant came on her 33rd birthday -- she was going to be the mother of triplets, two identical boys and a girl.

"After losing one baby to a miscarriage, I thought I would never be able to carry three," SWNS.com reported.

"But then my hunger kicked in and despite never eating meat I craved it. I ate about six meals a day."

A regular feast of burgers, chicken, bacon and daily breakfasts from McDonald's became a staple for the lifelong vegetarian and she began gaining weight.

"It all seems like a blur now. I just remember the cravings were so strong that I would wake up in the night and make my husband go and get me a McDonald's," Laura said, according to SWNS.com. "Eating meat definitely helped me get all the protein you need when you're pregnant. I think it could be one of the reasons I managed to carry all three to full term."

Max, Mason and Mia, now 14 months old, were each born a minute apart by caesarean section and went home from hospital two weeks after birth.

Laura is now back on her meatless diet and only eats veggie wraps and fries from McDonald's.

Cravings are very specific. I craved egg rolls and garden hose water. Npt just water but FROM A. GARDEN HOSE! Doc said I probably craved minerals in the build up.

Canned tomato sauce or tomato paste here. Pregnancy cravings can be weird. :-)

I was so hungry when I had twins. It was constant! My mom came out to help with my 2 year old son when I was put on bedrest. She would cook for us, and she never made enough food for me. I woould end up eating my husbands food, and he would go pick up something to eat. Digiorno’s pizzas were my friend! I ate so many of them! My mom was only out for a week of my 10 week bedrest. It was hard not being able to cook and always hungry!

I’m not a vegetarian, but when I got pregnant with our twins, I ate protein and calcium until I thought they’d come out my ears! LOL! I never thought I’d get tired of meat, but yes it’s possible. (I also had gestational diabetes so no sweets.) Two healthy boys! 6 lbs & 4.5 lbs. Now they’r bruisers. :)

My favorite cream of tomato soup:

1 can Tomato Sauce
1 can Whole Cream
Splenda or any sweetener

Pour can of tomato sauce into pan or microwavable bowl.
Add can of cream.
Add enough sweetener to taste about 1/2 to 1 tsp. (it cuts the bitterness of the tomato paste)

Mix, heat and enjoy. I add a tablespoon or two of cream cheese. This is the creamiest, tastiest tomato soup - I’ll never go back to Campbells.

It sounds yummy. I wonder what adding some diced canned tomatoes would do.

Humans are indeed omnivores. They’ll eat just about anything. ANYTHING!
(Just look at all the sausage mcMuffins they consume!)

LOL! Cheeseburgers with the first, Arby’s and Fish Sandwiches with the twins. With my twin pregnancy I was always hungry, even when my stomach was full of food. It takes a lot of calories to grow two babies!

I’m not a fan of canned tomatoes or that kind of texture in my cream soups, but if you like them, I’m sure it would taste fine. How bitter would it be?

I craved buffalo wings with my fourth pregnancy. Never cared much for spicy food before then, but I wanted them all the time. I do still like them, too.

I never had morning sickness with any pregnancy either, but did have a weird feeling that the hallway was tilted slightly left and that my husband was always drifting off the road to the right (he truly wasn’t). I think my depth perception or something was a bubble off plumb from the hormones.

And smells bothered me. That’s actually how I knew I was pregnant the third time, when the odor sensitivity kicked in.

I would think the diced tomatoes wouldn’t add to the bitterness, the sugar would take care of that, if not add a tad more sweetner.

Let me know if you try it. Honestly, it is sooooooo creamy. Adding cream cheese or sour cream makes it even better. Great for low carbers but it’s high in fat.
