A fair question.
The answer is that you can’t find a K31 a a decent price anymore and 7.62x54R is ubiquitous.

True. They seem to be a lot harder to find these days. Russki ammo is cheaper too.

Timney now has a trigger for Mosey.

I saw this recently. Along with stocks and all kinds of other stuff that cost more than the original complete rifle!

There’s already been dozens of articles about people abandoning this sate. Even Rick Perry is doing ads trying to recruit businesses to Texas. Us leaving is putting a lot of people out of work...literally.

Martin O’Malice couldn’t give a sh!t.

If I put a Timney trigger on it, as well as these peep sights, I could probably play the lead in Enemy at the Gates!

The FFL & gunsmith think they can convert my 30/40/60-rnd mags with just feed lips mods. I’m going down Tuesday to pick-up the Beowulf “fully-accessorized”, and Dad’s getting my pristine Mossberg 144LS .22LR with new scope.

At 89, I’m getting him and me into classes and range time, so he becomes proficient with his new S&W 642-2 .38 Special.

The was a daylight burglary across the street from his house Friday afternoon - neighbors keft side door open - plus I’m having my corp/condo security co set-up his massive stone house alarm system.

True, but that archangel stock is pretty cool but
I like the old guns to look like old guns.

The trigger doesn’t bubbaise it to much, but it does require modification to the original stock.

Hayulp!

Total non-sequitur to what has been posted so far, but here goes...

I have a Mossberg 590 12 gauge shotgun (not an A1) with a brass bead front sight. I got in my head that a ghost ring sight would be useful, and ordered a Mossy factory ghost ring sight, not realizing that the front blade has to be SILVER SOLDERED on by a gunsmith. (The rear sight bolts right up just fine to the exiting holes in the receiver).

I’m nervous (!) about finding and employing a gunsmith to pull this off.

So...

Do I just epoxy the front site on? (Has been suggested on the webz as a possiblity)

Do I purchase a third-party front sight of the clamp-on type? The only viable one I have found is for a Remington... will it fit? Unclear.

Do I lose my paranoia of gunsmiths applying too much heat to my barrel and screwing up the magazine bracket, and/or soldering the thing off center, and/or ...?

Do I buy a replacement barrel from Mossberg that has the front blade factory-attached?

Do I scrap the idea of having a ghost ring, period, and go back to the bead... or an upgraded version of the bead, like maybe a tritium bead?

I have done the usual google research... y’all’s learned opinions are coveted!

FRegards

Howdy, Gunners!

Last week Friday, I took a few shots at 300 yards with my new SOCOM rifle. Results were fair. I need to work on my technique.

It didn’t help that the sling got loose after about 8 shots, but being relatively inexperienced in long range rife shooting, that’s to be expected. Shot prone, open sights.

Couple of 10s, a 9 or two, couple of 8s, 7s, and a few misses. Sighting in was part of the experience, so I do have that excuse! :)

That’s quite a ‘wish list’, and everything needs to be done right, the first time.

Have you checked local FFLs’ in-house gunsmiths? Asked at the range about independent, perfectionist gunsmiths? I have one up here at Freedom Armory in PA who could do that meticulously, by TX is a ways away.

Silver solder sounds like the best option. It’s not difficult for someone that knows what they’re doing.
