Pvt. Jessica Lynch, 10 Years After Iraq Rescue: Pain But Much Gain
ABC News via Yahoo ^ | 9-19-13 | ANGEL CANALES

Posted on 09/19/2013 4:07:18 PM PDT by Houmatt

It was back in March 23, 2003, just three days after the start of the Iraq War, when Private First Class Jessica Lynch's unit was ambushed in Nasiriyah, Iraq. Lynch was only 19 when she was captured, badly injured and raped by Iraqi forces and held hostage for nine days before her dramatic rescue by US Rangers on April 1, 2003.

Controversy surrounds the "mythic" rescue story line. Lynch has blamed the Bush administration for exaggerating the bravery and success of the war with her story. "I knew that, even ten years later, I would not have been able to live with myself knowing that I let those stories escalate and I went along with what those other people were saying, because I knew in my heart that that's not really what happened," Lynch told ABC News' Bob Woodruff.

Then you remember the stories I referenced? I didn't think I was imagining it.

How do you know she has never acknowledged him? Or seen him? Beyond that its none of your business really..she is the one who has to wake in pain everyday..remember being a POW..remember eleven dead soldiers from her small unit. Her not pleasing you is frankly no big deal.

Are you suggesting this Iraqi doesn’t exist?

Whether the Iraqi exists, or not, is not the issue.

Pvt. Lynch was knocked unconscious when her truck was blown of knocked off the road, and was only semi-conscious when the troops came to rescue her days later. She had no way to know what parts of the story were fabricated and what parts were real, except that she knew that enough of the story had been fabricated so as to throw the whole story into question.

It is not her fault at all that some dishonorable REMFs chose to just "make stuff up" about the whole deal for whatever excuse they used for the fabrication.

She is not to blame for the dishonesty and dishonor of others.

Her teammate was the driver of the vehicle (I think it was a Hummer). She made a wrong turn, getting them both in danger. After getting through the town she mistakenly drove into, she inexplicably did a 180 and drove right back into the town. She crashed it, was killed and the ungrateful Miss Lynch got injured and captured.

A year or so later, a mountain in Phoenix was illegally named after the woman driver, Piestawa Peak. It was in violation of a law requiring a five-year wait after someone’s death before you can name a geographical feature for them. The peak would never have been named after her once the above version of the story came out. People weren’t happy the mountain wasn’t named after a hero, but a zero. They did it because she was a “Native-American,” and the liberals had been bucking for years to change the name of “Squaw Peak.”

The law breaking Governor: one Janet Napolitano. She’s been a serial law-breaker long before she became one of Obastard’s butt-buddies.

If she understood the meaning of honor, she’d never talked to a sensationalist like Bob Woodruff.

She doesn’t like what the war did to her, but she wasn’t drafted.

Pvt. Lynch was knocked unconscious when her truck was blown of knocked off the road...

The truck was crashed because they were trying to flee hostile fire.

I was in the Anti Aircraft Artillary and I was instructed and always understood that one of my main functions was essentially Infantry.

Otherwise what is going to happen to the unit if it is attact?

Well, every soldier should be a somewhat competent infantryman, just as “every Marine a rifleman” as is their motto, but you must admit that you won’t be as good an infantryman as someone who spends all their time training in it, just as I wouldn’t either.

Whether the Iraqi exists, or not, is not the issue.

In other words, you have no idea, so you just wish to put it aside.

How about no?

Here's an idea for you: If he doesn't exist, prove it.

I do not give a flaming horse's patoot what Jessica Lynch says. That's not even why I posted this. I did it to point out how the press wanted to know how she was doing and she's willing to talk to them when the one man who is most likely the reason why she has a pulse let alone a kid she didn't seem to have time for. For me that is what matters and if you don't like it, tough cookies.

Then why don't you prove 1) the guy doesn't exist and 2) it never happened.

Put up or shut up.

This incident is what drove a shift in training to get the "soft skills" more ready for ground combat. Prior to that the mentality was "I'm not Infantry, so why should I care?"

It got better, but it still has a long way to go. I just participated in some basic squad-level training with intelligence Soldiers, and it was painful.

I dunno. In retrospect, it might have better for the guy’s long-term health he wasn’t fingered in the American invasion. Obastard made such a hash of the bug-out I’m surprised we didn’t have choppers full of desperately fleeing people.

But I doubt that was on Pvt. Lynch’s mind when she didn’t want to see him.
