What do you have against Lithuanians? If you find one to sing the national anthem, he or she will nail it. Lithuanians take singing seriously.
Why does the NFL have Hispanic Heritage Month?
Why do they not have African-American Heritage Month in the NFL? Heck, why not Anglo-American Heritage Month in the NFL? Why do Hispanics gets this special recognition?
And soon, you’ll have LGBT Heritage Month in the NFL.
Saved me the trouble of posting it. Best rendition in years.
Can you post a link, please?
The young lady (11-12 maybe) that sang the anthem at the NASCAR race nailed it. A bit slow, but she did an outstanding job.
“And soon, youll have LGBT Heritage Month in the NFL.”
You just had to say it, didn’t you!
You know it’s true; that’s the b***h of it...
Kelly Clarkson still added too many embellishments for my taste. Why do so many singers think they can improve upon the composer of a song?
My vote goes to retain the Star Spangled Banner as our national anthem. It’s so very stirring when played by a good band (or sung well as it occasionally is) and we’ve had it long enough that it’s got a lot of tradition going for it.
I’m as patriotic as the next FReeper, but did we really have to set our national anthem to an English drinking-song tune that virtually no one can sing well because of the unusually large range between the highest and lowest note? Musical expressions of love for country would be so much easier if our national anthem were singable by the general populace, rather than requiring a diva to execute well.
That’s hockey, right?
Might get to hear him sometime if they play the Caps...
will look forward to it, thanks....
The only thing worse than murdering the national anthem is murdering a post by throwing it out there without a link or even an explanation of who what where when — and that belongs to you.
Oh please. she’s a girl, give her a break. I’ve heard a lot worse
If they play the Caps? The Caps play the Blackhawks opening night, in Chicago, when the Blackhawks get to raise the Stanley Cup banner, AGAIN. Listen to Cornelison sing the National Anthem.
I don’t think anyone will ever top Whitney Houston’s performance in 1991. She was one of the rare singers who have the necessary vocal range.
This is her at the top of her form: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_lCmBvYMRs
Wow!
Superb!
I didn’t see it, but more often than not singers at football games resort to gimmicks like “soul” flourishes and make fools of themselves. I’m grateful when they just sing it straight.
She definitely murdered it by not only her bad voice but especially by trying to be creative by putting the emphysis on the wrong “sy lab able”.
Being in Army bands for my three years of service I know very well how the National Anthem should be phrased.
