I love that our national anthem is difficult to sing! I really do think ours blows all other national anthems out of the water. I mean, I want to fall asleep during “God Save the Queen.” And “La Marseillaise” has great lyrics, but is set to a real bore of a tune.

And actually, it isn’t really THAT hard. The problem is that people always start too high. Always. Start as low as you possibly can, if you can choose the key. Wait, people can choose the key, right? Or is there an official key? Hm, I’m realizing I may not know what I’m talking about.

But anyway, when I’m in the shower, and I start as low as I can, I can hit those high notes with no problem, and I’m no diva. No siree.

My husband has a fantastic voice...and one of his favorite songs to sing is the National Anthem...he just loves it.

So, we often attend college football games where the band plays it & there is no vocalist. He will sing along beautifully in full voice with a lovely vibrato (he has a low-tenor voice, I would say).

It always starts the same...he is the only one singing; then everyone in the section chimes in. When it ends, younger people run up to give him “high fives,” older people rush to shake his hand, and everyone within about a 20 foot radius turns and claps. The last game was really funny, as a couple of (really drunk) College guys a couple of rows down just turned around & yelled “DUDE...AWESOME!”

I am just mortified..because I cannot sing at ALL....LOL! I just think it’s neat how a great, classic rendition inspires everyone else within hearing distance to chime in. It’s pretty difficult to “sing along” to some of the bizarre variants that one usually hears.

Oops! SO sorry! (Sincerely, no sarcasm!) The Blackhawks DID win the Cup last year, didn’t they? My bad...
Will definitely watch then because of your recommendation and son loves the Caps...

>>and that belongs to you.<<

Guilty.

Next time I just toss something meaningless out with no context, I’ll do it in “Breaking News” where it belongs!!!

;)
