They say the response was warranted because they didn’t know if she had a bomb, gun, or other weapon.
The cops panicked. The one cop car wrecked by the baricade is a perfect example. The barrier was activated before the cop got there as it was still rising after he hit it. Poor training.
Jaywalkers, litterers, loiterers better beware!!

So, no one thought to shoot out her tires?
They did a lousy job of blocking in the car.
But you have to expect to get shot at if you try to run over people with your car.
It is a sad ending though.
They didn’t surround and shoot up that cop though, and he did HAVE a gun!!
It looked like the two cop cars FORCED her into the Barrycade, then she panicked, backed up and took off in hail of gunfire. Why were the cop cars by her to begin with?

I’m sorry, but you don’t ‘bump into a barricade’ by accident, then lead cops on a 15 block chase at 80 MPH through downtown *anywhere* because you were confused or scared. Then do it a second time at another barricade. Women drivers are bad, but we’re not that bad.
This woman was flat-out nuts.
My votes on a medical condition, minor stroke, or medications.
Her family is wondering why she was in DC in the first place. She didn’t live there. She had no business there.

I would say more like poor timing than poor training. I’m guessing those other two cops there were getting the barricade raised. This cop comes flying through, the thing is in his way, but he could NOT swerve around it because of the bicycle cop.

It does look like she was making a U-turn. I don’t know why she didn’t stop. Not necessary to use all that force.
Did you look at the video? It is obvious that she was making a U turn and struck the barricade.
Probably the same reason the US created VOA to use against the Soviets during the cold war.
News is propaganda. I think we would prefer the Arabs get news from Al Hurra rather than Al Jazeera.
All he did was report what they just saw in Arabic. It is good to have video of these events, no matter the source.
I was wondering what she was doing prior to her being caught up in the barricades. It makes sense that she was driving way too fast.
I think its called murder. Very disturbing incident. A view into the near future of our society. submit or die. I am shocked by it.
