Sources within the Department of Transportation have revealed that their plan to use National Guard resources to close federally funded Interstate Route 495, circling the nation’s capital, have been approved by unknown White House officials and will be implemented on Friday morning, October 11, in order to thwart the three day Trucker slowdown announced on the Capitol Beltway starting that date, using the federal government shutdown as justification.

But let this be a lesson to all. Lets read PAST the excerpt sometimes before jumping in with a comment.
As we see in this instance. The article has NOTHING to do with a possible Beltway shutdown - and EVERYTHING to do with an upcoming conference.
Does it matter whether the truckers close the beltway or the guard closes the beltway — just means that the government will take the unpopularity hit, not the truckers, and the trucker will save on their diesel fuel.

So I guess this means Obama thinks a bunch of truckers driving around DC is an emergency big enough to call out the guard. If Obama can call up the National Guard to close Washington, why can’t Rick Perry call up the guard to close the border.
