Just staring at that Asteroids GIF ... I wonder if one could make a better version using the playfield register to draw the asteroids provided a bit of RAM is added to the cart similar to what they did for some later games (Dig Dug, Burgertime come to mind). Playfield register based Asteroids would get rid of the flicker too.

You could also add a mode where two players could play simultaneously since a player register would be freed up ... kind of like that old vector classic Space Duel.

Yeah ... I’ll get to work on that once the probability of impact reaches 1% and I have nothing better to do for a couple of months in 2879.
