Best-selling conservative author Ann Coulter, who has used her nine books to launch vicious attacks on Democrats, is turning her guns on Republicans in a new book out Monday, calling Florida Sen. Marco Rubio a hypocrite, urging donors freeze contributions to the GOP, and demanding that only governors or senators run for the partys presidential nomination.
Her point in Never Trust a Liberal Over 3 -- Especially a Republican is to shake the party out of its doldrums in time for the 2014 and 2016 elections.
Elections matter. Were trying to make the country a better place. But if our candidates dont win, we cant do that, she writes. This isnt a game. We arent picking basketball brackets. Bad things happen when Republicans lose elections and Democrats have veto-proof majorities, she adds in the book provided in advance to Secrets.
While she is most noted for skewering liberals in her weekly columns and nine previous New York Times best sellers, Never Trust puts her on a path for a head-on collision with the establishment Republican Party and even a favored 2016 presidential candidate as she urges the GOP to purge itself of failed tactics, lazy consultants, and gripless potential candidates.
Take Rubio. He is one of the partys leading 2016 candidates, but Coulter dresses him down for promising effective immigration reform while campaigning for the Senate but spitting out a more liberal alternative once elected.
She quotes him slamming amnesty for illegal immigrants as a Senate candidate in 2010. And then he got to Washington and his big legislative initiative was a path to citizenship for illegal aliens! Yes, Rubios plan to solve the problem of illegal immigration from Mexico is to bring them all here, she scolds.
The fashionable pundit pummels the party for wooing untested politicians for president. Why are any congressmen or businessmen showing up in our presidential primaries? They are never going to get the nomination, she says.
The solution is a governor, just like four of the last six presidents. I dont care if it makes you feel good, conservatives: Do not ever, ever considering running a presidential candidate who has not been a senator or preferably a governor. No, not even our beloved Ben Carson. What are we concentrating on? Thats right: winning.
Ditto for House and Senate seats. Stop being stupid, she urges the party, singling out failed candidates like former Rep. Todd Akin, who lost a recent Missouri Senate bid when he talked about legitimate rape.
And to grab that gold ring, she demands that musty political consultants be swept out of the GOP. She blames them for losing four Senate seats the Republicans thought they should have won in 2010 and 2012.
Republicans were screwed by campaign consultants fleecing deep-pocketed candidates rather than doing the work of electing Republicans, she says. Republicans should refuse to give money to the party until we have the names of these people [failed consultants] and a blood oath that they will never be hired again.
The book is a collection of her columns introduced with new political analysis. Of course, she saves some space to whack Democrats, like Hillary Clinton. She believes that with President Obama off the ticket, it will be easier for a Republican to win -- and beat Clinton, the Democratic front-runner by miles.
Without Obama on the ticket, it wont be magic again. The only people fainting at Hillarys speeches will be chubby gals from NOW, writes Coulter.
With her 10th book, Coulter has returned to her original publisher, Regnery Publishing Inc., which has already mapped out one of their trademark coast-to-coast book and media tours starting Monday with an appearance on Sean Hannitys shows. She will do CNNs Piers Morgan and Crossfire shows and has a book party October 22 hosted by the DailyCaller.com. She will also be on the hot new site Reddit AMA, or Ask Me Anything, on Oct. 21.
Adam’s Apple Annie has also never explained her bromance with Christie Creme, either.
Ann says the stupidest things from time to time that are just(or perceived to be) hateful. I don’t trust her. Nothing she can do to regain the trust.
After a half decade of her pushing Romney and her love affair with Christie, she clearly doesn’t have any real political grounding, at least not in conservatism.
Yes.
Her character judgement leaves a lot to be desired.
Did Chris Christie write the forward?
It’s been at least a year since I bothered about Ann.
She needs to just go away.
D’Oh. Foreword.
Whose body did they photoshop onto her head? Her body’s as straight as her hero Mitt.
She seriously ruined her brand during the 2012 Elections.
Hear, hear.
Years ago, there was this political commentator by the name of Ann Coulter who was interesting and insightful. Apparently, she’s been replaced by a shrill using the same name. It’s been quite awhile since anything of value has come from someone named Ann Coulter.
I still love you, and can I get an autographed copy?
Ann went RINO on us. She is from Connecticut after all so I guess she couldn’t resist fate. By the way, isn’t Laura Ingraham from that state too? Where I live they took her show off the air so I haven’t listened to her in quite awhile. It’s hard to find conservatives from the northeast these days.
Only governors or senators were finalists in the GOP presidential nomination process in 2008 and 2012. And we ended up with McCain and Romney. They were serious contenders not because they were better people but because they were plugged into statewide fundraising networks and had broad name recognition, whereas the House candidates were hamstrung by being limited to local supporters.
Last time I saw her I was shocked by how skinny she was, bordering on anorexic. She must have done some serious eating and exercising ro like like that picture if it's real.
That is excellent.
Ann killed her own credibility with the whole Mittens Romney / Pork Porkie thing. A shame... Credibility is a real tough thing to get back. It’s like catching someone in a lie. You just can never fully trust that person ever again.
