The world is crashing in on the GOP? Maybe not. (Vanity)

I remember back in 1976, after Watergate destroyed Nixon, and the Peanut Man Jimmuh Carter won the election, every lefty political pundit was writing about how the Republican Party was finished, it was over for them, the Dems would rule for generations.

Then, of course, just 4 years later in the 1980 election, Ronald Reagan, our most recent (but definitely not the last) conservative president destroyed Carter, carrying 44 states. And in 1984, it was an even biggest defeat for the socialists with Reagan winning, hold on to your hat, 49 states! Only Walter Mondale's home state of Minnesota, and D.C., went into his column that year. Even Commiefornia and Taxechusetts voted for The Gipper in 1984.

Now, again, the smirking political writers, like Gail Collins of the NY Times, and the leftists writing for the WAPO and LA Times are high fiving each other, certain that the GOP, and more importantly Conservatism, is dead. But it always seems that just when the libs think they have final victory in hand, their dream falls apart.

I predict they are going to be in for a well-deserved shock November of next year. And Ted Cruz will enhance that state of shock, in 2016.

First, I think the polls are rigged.

Second, I think in the long run, the majority will support the Republicans....government is too big, that monstrous debt is unsustainable and Obamacare sucks.

What led to this mess?

A President that has never submitted a cogent budget - and none of them were found acceptable to his own party.

A Senate that has never passed a budget since Obama has been in office.

Failure of Congress to follow 'regular order' in that the Senate makes a budget, confers with the House and passes a budget.

Use of "continuing resolutions' in lieu of 'regular order'. CRs are not mentioned in the Constitution.

Failure to get appropriations bills (usually about 14) passed through conference by both chambers.

The use of "Gangs of X" instead of congressional committee work.

The use of abusive Executive Orders to bypass the Congress and skate constitutional authority of Congress and create extra-constitutional authority of a run-away President.

A President that rewrites laws after passage, selectively enforces - or fails to fully enforce - laws on the books. (DOMA, Sanctuary Cities, Sequester)

The abuse of a corrupt solicitor general in having the SCOTUS morph a mandate into a tax, and rewriting the constitution on the "origination" concept whereby the court originated a new tax which is clearly the purview of the House - and ONLY he House.

We have an imperial president who openly HATES the Constitution.

Rampant, systemic, and institutionalized voter fraud. The entire nation has had the thuggish antics of Chicago politics fully installed at the White Crib. Obama added the extra factor of Muslim Brotherhood operatives in high offices. This will require a lot of cleansing - much more than simply the Clinton bathtub ring.

Barry, Harry, and SanFranNan are leading an illegal strike. Get back to work, slackers!

The leader of my country hates me. Plain and simple.

He does not want me to have upward mobility.

He does not want my kids to have ONE 40-hour job, but demands they have TWO 30-hour jobs.

He hates my politics. He hates my skin color. He hates my limited successes and aspiration.

He hates my rights under the Bill of Rights.

He hates my religion and forces adoption and tolerance of another religion that hates me. He hates my ideas and ideals.

I am a minority of ONE and my leader is actively discriminating against me.

He has implanted active members of the Muslim Brotherhood into high positions in his regime - and they hate me.

He hates the military that protects my rights and provides for my protection.

He hates my country ... and I hardly ever use the word “hate” since it is so strong, but in this case it is very fitting.

"Change has come to America!" From WHERE?!?!?!

Divisive? Does not want unity if it includes conservative principles? You betcha!

The pendulum swings. Even Bob Tyrell of Am Spectator wrote ‘the last democrat’ after Clinton & here we are with Zero. I think it probably is a good thing that Obamacare is being implemented (badly) & people are getting hit in the pocketbook. Not to mention the NSA & the $17T debt, neither one of which the average American is happy about. If the R’s get on a proper message, they can indeed use it to cream the D’s in 2014 & 2016.

But they don’t call it the stupid party for nothing...

the only poll that matters is the ballot box, and it’s too early to tell what impact any of this will have.

However, anything that keeps Obamacare and the incompetency of this administration front-and-center is a good thing for our candidates.

If the Republicans keeping pointing out the failures of Obamacare and that the Democrats forced it on the American people, they may be able to turn it around.

If the Republicans...

Define "Republicans". Nobody is ever going to vote for a RINO as the "lesser of two evils", ever again. That's the price for sabotaging their voters.

Anything can—and will happen before November of 2014 and a whole world of things may happen before 2016. I think the mass of people are sick of Obama. They will not go for a 3rd Term (even if Tom Hanks likes the idea) nor will they go for aan Obama clone to replace him. Hillary is damaged goods and I don’t think she will make it passed the primary. The Tea Party must put for a slate of good conservatives to promary the RINOS-—It is there race to lose.

Yea, like the rapidly changing electorate demographic which will ensure another GOP defeat regardless of the failures of the Obama party.

Dear Self,

The Republican leadership is simply letting the Commies hijack the narrative.

They should be standing in front of the Capitol every day saying, “defund Obamacare or No Deal”.

Every day. Never wavering.

That’s what this about...and the more people hear the horror stories of CommieCare, the more they will thank the R’s for opposing it.

They simply are not on message, and they need to do that.

I agree.

I am referring to the establishment. The power of the Republican party. They are pretty inept when playing the message game. The MSM, Democrats and like ilk lie like SOBs and establishment Republicans sit back and do little and are even critical.

Oh ya, and if it goes well the establishment Republicans are right there to take credit.

I haven't heard Republicans refer to the complete disaster of the roll out of Obamacare in any of their speeches.

The American people can now see for themselves how government controlled health insurance is going to be run and it is a perfect opportunity for Republicans to shine a bright light on it.

It is a perfect opportunity for Republicans! Wake up!

Obama, apparently a complete idiot when it comes to business and the free market system, used Apple as an example of how difficult it can be to introduce a new service or product. The idiot in chief failed to realize that if any Apple product performed like Obamacare, Apple would be out of business within a month. People would be demanding refunds and buying Samsung — THAT IS HOW THE FREE MARKET WORKS and why quality and service are improved under a free market system!

And an even more important point — why government monopolies provide crappy service and cost more than they should.

People are sick of the Progresssives—the MSM have proped up a failing system but that will fall in time. Watch as more scandals crop up—In the end it will be something silly that takes down Obama. i believe, like Huckabee, that Obama will not end his term. He will be out by Jaunary 20, 2017. We may have President Biden (God help us) for a time. (and he will pardon Holder, Obama, Michele, and Hillary)

What led to this mess?

The popular election of senators.

Lets put our thinking cap on here. What was the problem that led to the popular election of senators. It was corruption, because power to select was put in the hands of a few state legislatures and they used that power for personal advantage.

So to counter this concentration of power and corruption, we said we would bring the election to the people. Sounds good, does it not? Problem solved. But this was a step toward democracy and we were a republic.

So put that cap on snugly and tell me what the real problem and solution is, not the symptom.

And let's not forget how Obama illegally made changes to the law AND also (though it may be legal) a lame duck Congress is the one that passed it late at night before the newly anti-ObamaCare Congress came in to take over.

Spare your snark for someone who cares.

Did popular election eliminate corruption in the senate? Corruption was way overblown by the progressives of the day. As to what corruption existed, any political body will have dishonest characters, and the solution was, and is, to prosecute them.

THE primary safeguard to republican liberty was the vertical separation of powers represented by a senate of the states. Power was divided between the enumerated authority granted to the federal government and near plenary powers that remained with the states.

Power rapidly moved to Washington DC these past hundred years when the states were not around to defend themselves.

Nothing will change until the McConnell's, McCain's, Cornyn's, Hatch's, Boehner's, et. al., are removed from the party leadership, or the party itself.
