National Park Service (NPS) rangers removed the handles from some 40 public water pumps and closed restrooms in the 184.5 mile- C&O Canal National Historical Park, but they havent been able to keep hikers and bikers off the popular trail known as a cyclists dream.
Its full every day, said Gail Hall, who runs Mountain Side Bikes at the trailhead in Cumberland, Md. Theyre bringing in their own water and utilizing the tree-lined areas [of the park] for restrooms. Some towns like Harpers Ferry even brought in potties to accommodate them. As long as they can pedal, they dont care.

Possibly. I just winterized my “irrigation” system for my lawn last weekend. But then again it’s a little cooler where I am than along the C&O currently. But that’ll change soon due to glow-bull cooling. LOL! We’ve had below freezing nights a few times already.

Sounds like a lot of federal workers are "working". Are the people who did all this work "essential" or something?

Are you certain that Barry has ever won an honest election? Really?

I didn’t say “all”, just typically. I know an extremely conservative cyclist at work. He also races a Porsche on the track. I also know a dozen other cyclists there that are extreme left-wing Obama voters.

Yep. It is all about creating chaos for a “fundamental transformation”, a phrase used by communists meaning create chaos then offer communism as the answer.

I don’t know anything about this particular story, but the ‘water pumps’ in the story are probably yard hydrants. They have a long lever of a handle, and the hydrant can be mistaken as an old fashioned well pump.
The lever operates a valve well below ground, below frost level. And when it is closed, it opens up a weep hole which allows the water in the vertical pipe to drain out into a bed of gravel.
The whole idea is that these yard hydrants are freeze proof, and there should be no winterization required.

Americans traded their freedom for the promise of free stuff
Kruschev was wrong when he said he would sell us the rope to hang ourselves. Obama said he would give us the rope for free.

The NPS has revealed itself to be “nonessential” government employees. Defund the National Park Service. In effect, fire the NPS.

That is why they are crying so loud about obamacare now. They thought it would be free to them.
