I saw some interviews with federal employees following the shutdown. I noticed that the accents of the employees were Northern, I did not hear a Southern accent. While I only caught the accents of a few people, it made me wonder if the Democrats are stacking the federal jobs with liberal workers from the North.
There are distinct accents throughout the state but I don’t know of any which would be considered similar to ‘southern US.’
About 25% of federal employees are veterans.
During the 90's, the Clintons began working feverishly to politicize the Civil Service. Beastwoman appears to have led this move, instigating "change agents" named by the political appointees to lead secret circles w/in the Service that would make HR policy recommendations to make the Service over into a 'Rat-friendly rats' nest.
Beastwoman's battle cry was "too pale, too male, too stale" (typical Beast-Alinsky phrasemongering), and the purpose of the "change agent" rings was to lead brainstorming on how to get the white guys out and get more 'Rat/minority/lesbian people in.
Their stuff was on a lot of Civil Service sites ... like NOAA's. All the top political people were PC minorities (at NOAA the guy was Hispanic from PR), and getting rid of Whitey was the agenda.
I wrote a letter to Sen. Phil Gramm's office about it, and some moron deliberately misunderstood what I was saying and dashed off a letter asking me, without any reason for doing so, whether I'd been denied employment by NOAA on account of my race or gender. Republicans are morons, but when they are morons at that level, it's deliberate.

Does the federal govt hire people over 50? I have always been under the impression they don’t.
The accent of native Marylanders really depends the part of the state in which you were born. Where I live it’s a little southern-sounding, but then there’s a heavy dose of Baltimore...it sounds strange.
A lot of people who live in Maryland weren’t born in Maryland too, so they bring their southern, northeastern, Midwestern et. accents with them.

And 44% of the DoD employees who work for our Dept of Defense, as maintenance workers, electricians, police, or trainers - are veterans themselves who wore the uniform of this nation.
What say you, cradle of freedom?
Maybe we should extend this witch hunt against non-veterans, who never served?
I'd be willing to bet money the percentage working in DC is substantially less.
I used to have sort of a country accent when I was growing up, but not anymore.

I worked for a federal law-enforcement agency for many years. (OK, I have seen the error of my ways and am eternally repentant.) Nevertheless, it’s true-—the workforce was disproportionately northern and black. I can only recall a handful of southerners. Being a law-enforcement agency, the workforce was pretty conservative, which made the experience bearable, even fulfilling at times. Conservative friends of mine who have been employed by more typical (i.e. non-law-enforcement) agencies were completely disgusted with the political bent of the workforce.
One thing is sure—you will find very, very few federal employees, who like me, question the very legitimacy or morality of their jobs, or the government and its proper role in our lives per the constitution. They are overwhelmingly politically ignorant and have an innate, reflexive sense of entitlement. You can talk to them till you’re blue in the face about how grossly overcompensated they are, or how they add nothing to the productive capacity of the country, and it does no good. They are true believers. They love the government and are completely incapable of questioning its size, its scope, or anything else about it. They regularly complain about their jobs, but never the very legitimacy of the job.
Folks in DC lose their local accents fast. If the native Virginians here have southern accents, I’ve grown deaf to them. Very few DC folks from SC-NC-GA-AL-MS-AR-TN-LA-KY stretch of states, although I know several with sharp accents from TX.

That's an old, old practice in radio and TV broadcasting. Long ago the industry chose the Midwestern accent as the one to use. And they do.
It could be much, much worse, you know. What if they had settled on Brooklynese?
I don’t get what you’re angry about. I meant no harm by this question. It only seemed to be based on the small sample that that I heard that maybe the Dems were packing the federal government with as many Dems as possible, as they always try to take over everything.
No wonder that Northern Virginia votes Democrat.
The guy that just audited me was the most boring white guy I have ever met. Completely devoid if a sense of humor. Like auditing me wasn’t good enough for him.
