FReepers are well know for their political acumen. So, in advance of the House hearing today on how NOT to design a website, do you think she'll stay or go? If she goes, when? And will Obama try and seem tough, efficient, announcing that he had "requested her resignation.".
I don’t expect her to leave. While she might make a good scape goat for Obama, he does not want to deal with confirmation hearings drawing more light to this. The path of least resistance will probably be to blame a contractor even though apparently no one single contractor was in charge of this project.
Obama never fires people for incompetence... in fact he usually promotes them. He’ll probably make a new position for her, something like “Goddess of Mind, Body and Spirit” or some such thing.
Obama's going to dig in. Any delay in Obamacare will vindicate Ted Cruz, and Obama will not allow that to happen.

That is interesting.
I recall reading years ago (10-15 years) where at one time it was “traditional” that every one or two years the cabinet members would offer to resign - verbally and directly to the President.
The offer was likely to be refused, but the intent was to keep the President from asking a sitting cabinet member to resign that he had once appointed.
I do not recall the source, as it has been so long since seeing that, and when (or if) the “tradition” died off.
Just what I was going to write. Any confirmation hearing opens up a can of worms! Plus serving cabinet secretaries have much more legal protection than ex-secretaries. So, no resignation, no firing.
Just remember this is the most transparent and ethical administration in history. It says so right on the label, just below “Union Made” and “You didn’t build this!” (If the latter refers to this mess, why are they trying so hard to blame everyone else for it?)
The first thing that cabinet members do upon being sworn in is submit an undated letter of resignation to the Chief of Staff..

Nope. That would be Obama admitting 1) he picked somebody who wasn’t good, 2) the website isn’t as easy as “booking a hotel room”, 3) the problem (which doesn’t exist) with the website is not due to Republicans being cheap with money (new talking point yd, various sources echoing it today), and 4) there’s something wrong with Obamacare itself that made the website construction harder than usual.
A quibble: I can’t think of any that have resigned under pressure, but many have simply voluntarily packed up their bags and moved on. Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar comes to mind immediately as just one example.
Ah, I rummaged around a little and see that the AG is indeed part of the Cabinet. I thought is was just “Secretary of X”. In that case, AG’s Mitchell (Nixon) and Meese (Reagan) did indeed resign under pressure.
I sure that some might have resigned under pressure, but I am unaware of any of them that have stood up and said I don’t agree with what the President is doing and therefore I resign. This was the case with William Jennings Bryan.
In this country, there are very few who stand up and state I don’t agree and I hereby resign; or I should be held responsible for actions that occurred during my watch.
When was the last time a military officer tendered his resignation? Looking at the mix of officers at the upper command echelons, I fear for this country.
Yep nobody is going to leave on principle these days. At best, they’ll have something lined up at a think tank or university and that will be their exit line.
