The article mentioned a specific time period but it seemed somewhat flexible in its descriptions of societies some centuries before and after that period. Abraham was told that his descendants would spend 400 years in Egypt some 2 centuries before it Happened.(Jacob actually took the Hebrews into Egypt. Abraham witnessed the destruction of S and G a year before his son Isaac was born, approx. at 100 years old. Israel came into its land approximately 1400 bc
and spent 40 years in the winderness then approximately 50 years subduing their new land and another 400 years as a theocratic republic. Another 400 years of Kings Starting about 1000 bc. Then the 70 years of captivity followed by 400 “silent years” where there was no open prophecy. Finally, the Greeks, Antiochus and the Ptolemies, then Rome.

It’s not that I disagree with the article, I just think that the period of disasters needs it’s start date pushed back to about 1700 to 1900 BC(if you count the world wide famine that Genesis records as occurring when Joseph co ruled Egypt with Pharoah). (Sand G would have been destroyed approx. 1900 to 2050 bc). It may very well have been this famine that really cemented Egypt as the world and agricultural power of it’s day. Joseph was about 30 years old when he began to rule and he died at 110 years old...some 70 to 80 years into Israel’s prophesied sojourn in Egypt. It might be claimed that Israel’s 400 years in Egypt started with Joseph’s death since Moses was 80 years old when he led Israel out of Egypt and Israel had technically been in Egypt for 483 years.(80 years with Joseph, then 400 years with a series of Pharoahs who eventually forgot about Joseph and his salvation of Egypt).

I thought that seemed awfully early for the Myceneans/Minoans.
