LOUISIANA, MO. -- The Missouri State Fire Marshal continues its investigation into an early morning Thursday fire that took the life of a 3-year-old Louisiana, Mo. boy. A city police officer stunned Riley's stepfather Ryan Miller with a Taser gun three times as he tried to enter the burning house. Lori Miller, Riley's grandmother, said police stunned Ryan Miller as he tried to get back in the house.
He tried to get back in the house to get the baby, Lori Miller said. They took my son to jail because he tried to save his son.
Ryan Miller's sister-in-law doesn't think the police handled the situation correctly.
"It's just heartless. How could they be so heartless? And while they all just stood around and waited for the fire department, what kind of police officer wouldn't try and save a three year old burning in a house?" said Emily Miller. "We've been going through pictures and he's just smiling in every picture. He was just a happy, go-lucky kid."

I used to be as pro-police as they come, but the more I read about stories like this...
Please...It's fireperson...manhole is personhole..
Learn it.
Ubiquitous cell phone cameras.
That is the only difference.
People like you are waking up because very common stories like this can no longer be effectively suppressed. It is no longer a question of who's word to believe, and the police relied on that dynamic to cover up just as much stuff in the past as they get caught doing now.
Damnit!
Forgot where I put my PC book this morning.
Oh! Here it is.
It was under my copy of Mao’s Little Red Book.
I’ve had experience with the police over the years. I’ve never seen this kind of behaviour, or even something remotely like it.
They are drunk with power. You may not disobey the orders of your overlords.
What they forget is that there are thousands of us for every one of them. And we are waking up.
This government is OUT OF CONTROL! How is this different than any other fascist regime?
They stunned the guy 3 times for trying to save his son? Somebody has got to explain this. And this guy ought to sue to own this police department.
Absolutely incredible.
What, no forced anal probe and enema to go with it? Slackers.
Thank you for your rational post. There are some who rebel against even legitimate use of authority.
At least they didn’t shoot his dog.....
Absolutely and unquestionable correct. As long as this father didn’t pose a direct risk to anyone else they ought to have let him go. The Gestapo tactics againts citizens has got to stop!
Do not call them.
Do not allow them into your house without a warrant.
Do not speak to them except to say "I do not give you permission to search/enter" or "am I under arrest" or "I was is fear for my life" or "may I call my lawyer."
The parents reportedly escaped the burning house through a rear door in the building
when smoke woke them from their sleep and they called 911. They then ran to the front
of the house and Ryan Miller was trying to break down the front door as police and
firefighters arrived on the scene. Jenne confirmed that he was stunned with a Taser
and restrained.
State Fire Marshal Investigator Scott Stoneberger explained that a firefighter in full
gear had attempted to enter the house but the flames were too hot.
Riley was asleep in a bedroom, and Ryan and Catherine Miller — Riley is Ryan
Miller’s stepson — had fallen asleep watching television in a back living room
area off the kitchen. Smoke woke Catherine Miller, who woke up her husband. He
grabbed her cell phone to call 911, then tried to get in the kitchen to the
hallway to Riley’s bedroom, but “there was so much smoke and flames he couldn’t
get through,” Jenne said. “They made it out through a rear door, came around
front and were waiting on police and fire to get there.”
While firefighters started to knock down the fire, Ryan Miller kicked in the
front door and tried to enter the burning residence. Police tried to restrain
Ryan Miller, who became combative, Jenne said, and an officer used a stun
gun to subdue him. As Ryan Miller was pulled back, one firefighter in full
gear tried to enter the home, but “the heat just forced him back out,” Jenne said.
“Firefighters finally got to the boy, and sadly enough, he was only maybe 12-15
feet from the front door.”

Not the cops decision to make.
The current culture ignores the law and encourages violence. It has an affect.
The father will be charged with something, solely as a CYA move to justify a tasing. The situation could have been handled better by the police. Protect and serve has become subject and punish.
It does not follow that if the culture is violent and lawless that the police must also be violent and lawless. In doing so they betray their lack of character and break the trust of the community.
You bet.
If they didn't have the capability to electrocute the Dad, they could of beat him with clubs for his own safety.
He's lucky they didn't shoot him, as they they have the legitimate authority to do so.
Being a police officer in Obamerica doesn't require good judgment or courage. Just the ability to hit a dog with a firearm at a distance of thirty inches.
I agree, but my point was that there does seem to be a very bad attitude by a growing number of law enforcement. There is a reason for this, imho.
