Vanity - How is this different?

The other day as I was driving, I was listening to a Fox News show on Sat Radio (free demo for a couple more days).

Anyway, the host was interviewing recent graduates, and the typical questions (who did you vote for? Why did you vote the way you did?) were getting the typical answers, but then I heard something that just really clicked and made me wonder.

The host asked who would vote for Hillary in 2016, and I guess there was only 1 guy who raised his hand. (the following is very much paraphrased) When the host asked why, he said that he voted for Barky because he thought that it was important for society to progress and that the nation needed to elect an "African-American" as President.

He went on to say that while Barky's election started moving things in the right direction, it was important to "advance society" by electing a woman as President.

I watched that clip on T.V., - - and just for the record, a highly-intelligent conservative gal raised her hand and spoke immediately after her, - - and said something to the effect of (paraphrased), - - “well, I’m a woman and have no intention of voting for someone just because she’s a woman, I’ll vote for someone because they’re qualified for the position”

*scandal* even. It’s not like the preview has a red squiggly line under these things, is it?

You are hearing the words of a leftist who has an agenda.

Why try to make sense out of that which is nonsensical from the start?

“If not, why not?”

Well, of course, because the MSM will convince that fellow (and others like him) that S. Palin is not “really” a woman or “not a woman for political purposes” which is I guess what they mean.

For a long time I heard that the first black president would have to be a conservative republican (Nixon goes to China, etc.) but that turned out to be not true.

But of course it was long before we had Obama inflicted on us that the Left started informing us that Clarence Thomas was “not really black” or, as I say “not black for political purposes”.

I hope I live long enough to see the American left smoldering on the ash heap of history, I really do.

You touched on something very profound about the human condition. Something Josef Goebbels once spoke of when he said, words to the effect, that the average person doesn't want to be bothered making hard life or death decisions in their lives and would be more willing to let someone else do it for them as long as it didn't inconvenience them directly and in the end, everything worked out fine. He further intimated “Can you imagine leaving matters of state and national defense to a butcher or a cobbler''. This is at the heart of how the Left see's the masses and how liberals govern. To them we're all ignorant slothful drones who have to have our thinking done for us.

Nicolae Ceaușescu, dictator of Romania, began his career as an apprentice cobbler.

Nice point. Logical. Therefore, you are out of fashion—resigned to the ash heap, right along side of classical education, tradition, morals and ethics.

Interesting question.... I think Matt Stone and Trey Parker summed it up cojently.... It makes them smug.

I say this as someone who was a big government, Politically correct Liberal until 1995...
Confession: I remember finding a Dentist specifically because she was black and a female when I first graduated Uni. I can’t even begin to understand why I or anyone would do that... except that it made me feel smug. So smug, I also recall sharing this piece of information with my Liberal friends... so as to prove my committment to the cause lol

And who couldn’t put a shoe together if his life depended on it. I knew a man who worked as an engineer in Ceausescu’s Romania, even met him once or twice. Ceausescu’s father was drunkard who had another son. He was such a drunk that Nicolae was given his name even though his older brother had the same name. Papa Ceausescu forgot he had already had a son by the name of ‘’Nicolae’’. He also told me Ceausescu was so dumb he couldn’t understand dimensions in scale models of things, such as his endless construction projects so things had to be built life size first so that he could understand what he was looking at. As for Goebbels comment, it’s obviously the statement of an arrogant but well educated man. In fact of all of the thugs in Hitlers closet circle, next to Albert Speer, Goebbels was the most educated among them. He had a PhD in philosophy from Heidelberg University. In any normal German societal situation at the time Hitler and Goebbels would never have been known to each other.

In what bizarre universe is voting for someone because of their sex or the color of their skin instead of their competence and dedication to improving the welfare of their countrymen to be considered as “improving society” and “progressing”???.....

So my question is, "How is voting for someone who is Black/Female/Jewish/Catholic/Mormon/etc... any different than NOT voting for them because they're Black/Female/Jewish/Catholic/Mormon/etc?

You obviously missed "Racism 101" in your studies.......

By the way, Satellite Radio is the way to go.

8 years ago, it would have been a good deal for me... I was a field service tech, and would easily spend at least an hour a day in the car, often more than that.

Now I work at a place close to home, so it just doesn't make sense for me anymore. I don't do much driving these days...
