That was the first song in the concert. Really fantastic. She’s so sweet too. When she speaks she seems incredibly shy. Like a lot of artists, she probably uses her music for expression.

Yes, noticed that, too, about her. I think she's just about got it all. True talent...lyrically, voice, looks, style, neat personality. Love that she uses harp in so much of her stuff, too. Her music videos are very intense...lots of neat visuals.

Is that Robert Smith, or Pat Metheny?

This is the actual video for the song she ends with in the Radio 1 Concert. Love the visuals in it combined with the lyrics and her powerful voice. (Sorry...got big time girl crush on Florence. ;) I’ll shut up now. :)

“No Light, No Light”

You are the hole in my head
You are the space in my bed
You are the silence in between what I thought
And what I said

You are the night time fear
You are the morning when it’s clear
When it’s over you’ll start
You’re my head
You’re my heart

No light, no light in your bright blue eyes
I never knew daylight could be so violent
A revelation in the light of day
You can’t choose what stays and what fades away

And I’d do anything to make you stay
No light, no light
No light
Tell me what you want me to say

Through the crowd, I was crying out
And in your place there were a thousand other faces
I was disappearing in plain sight
Heaven help me, I need to make it right

You want a revelation,
You wanna get it right
But, it’s a conversation,
I just can’t have tonight
You want a revelation
Some kind of resolution
You want a revelation

No light, no light in your bright blue eyes
I never knew daylight could be so violent
A revelation in the light of day,
You can’t choose what stays and what fades away

And I’d do anything to make you stay
No light, no light
No light
Tell me what you want me to say

Would you leave me,
If I told you what I’ve done?
And would you need me,
If I told you what I’ve become?
‘cause it’s so easy,
To say it to a crowd
But it’s so hard, my love,
To say it to you out loud

No light, no light in your bright blue eyes
I never knew daylight could be so violent
A revelation in the light of day,
You can’t choose what stays and what fades away

And I’d do anything to make you stay
No light, no light
No light
Tell me what you want me to say

You want a revelation,
You wanna get it right
But, it’s a conversation,
I just can’t have tonight
You want a revelation
Some kind of resolution
You want a revelation

You want a revelation,
You wanna get it right
But, it’s a conversation,
I just can’t have tonight
You want a revelation, some kind of resolution
Tell me what you want me to say.

I listened to that whole concert while going over the news. It helped, but now I need to listen to ‘Dog days are over’ again. We need some music to get our heads out of the discouraging headlines.

Most definitely. It's not that I don't care about what's going on. I certainly do, but I've had to tune out some of it since 2008 and concentrate on other things at times. I'm so happy that the thread got a lot of comments. Good to know lots of FReepers appreciate the 80s era, too. And our man, Reagan, was the deal back then. :)

“...And our man, Reagan, was the deal back then.”

*Sigh* miss him. Seems like a really long time ago now. Even though it really isn’t. It’s said the music reflects the times and how you see the world. And coinciding with his presidency, it was a great decade of music and lyrics.

Smiling. :) Love the 80s. Great memories. We are lucky to have been there.

Wow, she died at 40!

Donahue died of lung cancer at the age of 40 on December 9, 1996.[3]
