He Said, She Said: Dating Habits of Silicon Valley Millionaires
SF Weekly ^ | Mon., Dec. 9 2013 | Jonathan Ramos

Have no shame, gold diggers! Eligible millionaires in Silicon Valley love you just the way you are.

A recent study from MillionaireMatch.com found that millionaire men in Silicon Valley, 82.6 percent to be exact, are most likely to seek out non-millionaire women. And get this, only 16.2 percent would insist on a prenuptial agreement.

Millionaire women, however, are quite the opposite and 86.7 percent of them prefer to date other millionaires. And 92.4 percent insist on the union between prenups and dry ink.

According to the study, a random sample of 524 millionaires in the area, there's plenty of "new money" to be found in Silicon Valley between the ages of 29 and 40.

Darren Shuster, marketing manager for Matchamaker.com, has a theory: wealthy men "want to share their wealth with the less fortunate."

Apparently to marry a non-millionaire means to be charitable. The more popular responses from men polled had to do with dating "somebody who appreciates things" and not dating "bossy, middle-aged women who can take care of themselves."

In the on-going battle of the sexists, that's one point for the fellas.

For women it's a matter of "not carrying the whole financial burden," according to a female member worth $100 million. (What financial burden is she referring to when one member of the couple is worth $100 million?) Must be tough when one decides love does cost a thing.

I’m wondering if some of these millionaire ladies inherited their money and don’t feel they could make more. However, I think in a divorce inherited money is not counted.

For women status matters so no surprise that they do not want to “marry down” no matter how hot the guy is.

Good grief. Hot would be one of the last things I'd look for.

+1 to point 1 - “Arm candy” and “trophy wives” come to mind.

Lulz for point 4 and the many cats in their future.

Hmmm, “...more trusting...” is probably the most charitable of all possible theories.

“Men go for looks, women for resources/accomplishments.”

And can you think of a smarter biological strategy?

“Marry someone for money and you’ll earn every penny.”

G1!

In the modern world, men would probably be better off going for accomplishments as well—more fit genes for their offspring to compete in the modern world.

In Las Vegas, it’s the older guy with his niece.
In Palm Springs, it’s the older lady with her nephew....

When asked if golf was a good way to get rich, Lee Trevino famously replied: “I don’t know. Ask my ex-wives.”

It’s funny you know. I have several wealthy friends who use Millionaire and J-Date. The men’s motivation and women’s are completely different.

The men, for the most part, are dating for fun and if a relationship develops si be it.

They are, however, leery of any woman who would join these sites for rather obvious reasons.

The women, on the other hand, use these sites in hopes of landing a lifetime supply of someone they can manipulate and provide a lifestyle they are accustomed to or desire to achieve by merely being married

In fact, I have two friends who are living in hell as the wenches have oiled themselves.

I think one recently started a broom factory.

Now, I ask you : “What is the difference between those women and Heidi Fleiss employees?

Or it could be the female tendency to view finances as "what's mine is mine, and what's yours is ours".

If I were ever to marry you can be sure I’d have a pre-nut.

You have idea of the medications they currently take will be effective in suppressing their desire to go full “Happy Mode”.

There are points when you might consider the advantages of leasing.

“Many younger women still have this “bad boy” phase they have to go through. Many of these bad boys have little to no money at all.”

I know of several women in their 30’s who married working class rock musician types who were 15-20 years older. The woman is the bread winner and the marriages seem to be fine and have been for several years.

“Millionaire men are more trusting than millionaire women. I suspect the reason is that millionaire women tend to project their negative traits onto others.”

My ex MIL is the type who sends restaurant food back every time with one complaint or another and complains about any service industry person who is unfortunate to cross her path. I’d had to think of the Japanese sci-fi radiation mutant she’d become if she came into wealth.
