We have been getting some too. One of my favorites is from Baker’s Creek which we got this week, and I am restraining myself in order to make headway on Christmas Chores, and Late Fall/Early Spring cleaning. LOL
Tarp held up on my little garden :-)

It’s only one month till I start my seeds. I am excited because I have new heirloom mater seeds to grow. We will only be growing one hybrid this year. Big Boy maters are so good they we will keep growing them. I am reducing the count of seeds that I start since I cannot find anybody to give the excess seedlings to; 280 plants are just too many. One tray of seedlings will still be too many to plant but will let me choose the strongest of each variety to plant.
too young to eat them ... yet .... but another year and a half ....
Thanks for the photos. They are very cheery even if they aren’t food. LOL Stay safe and stay warm. I gotta say that I admire the people who have the fortitude to live in our Northern Midwest States!

Me too! I have so many seeds left from last year’s purchase that sprouting just a few from each package would exceed all the space I have. Gonna have to do better with the selection process from now on.LOL
It’s not fortitude...we just hate termites. It also provides more opportunities for hermit types.

I'll have to plant the three Ouachita blackberry plants tomorrow in the containers I have for them. I'll go to that website again and get their instructions as they are not in the box. These blackberry “sticks” are about two feet long, each with a root bundle. I got these from Greenwood Nursery on line. I got Ouachita because those grow best in Texas according to my research.
I'll start pepper seeds under the grow lamp in a week. I've got a number of varieties (sort of got carried away by those “bred” for containers) and only one of the regular peppers is hot. I've also got those Fooled You Jalapenos but they don't have heat.
So, I have things to do. rightly, aren't you going to start seeds soon or am I the only one?
Under the tarp: collard greens, chinese kale & a beet plant or two. The collards have been doing the best, chinese kale sort of ok and I think only two beets came up & are not growing. I planted about 1.5 - 2 months late, but I just couldn’t stand bare dirt after I cleaned the garden out. The ground is now frozen here so I’m thinking the plants won’t make it ... but we’ll see. Gives me something to mess around with outside. Recently, it was decided that a 10 year old pile of yard debris should be moved and instead of hiring somebody else using a “Bobcat”, I’m the one who will be doing the digging. I’m hoping to find some good compost near the bottom - plan to expand the garden for next year with at least one, perhaps two 6 x 6 plots. Come on Spring!! :-)
Isn't it amazing what a little sunshine does for the attitude? All I want to do today is huddle up and drink tea by the heater and let my fingers do the exercising. LOL
I’m getting ready to start the cole crops myself. Probably in the next couple of weeks to set out mid Feb & cover with tarp if it gets below the mid 20’s after that.
I’ll probably start peppers/tomatoes sometime in late January/early Feb.
My saffron crocuses all have little poofies of green at the tops of their stemmy bits right now.
That’s a big plant. Do they require much attention?
I'll have to re-pot my rebel at least one more time, because the root balls of the ones I grow in the garden are at least gallon sized, if not larger.
Good thing they don't mind being transplanted repeatedly.
