Scott Walker: Republicans should focus on economic issues to take back the Senate
12/14/13

Posted on 12/14/2013 2:33:46 PM PST by AstralisLux

Asked how the GOP could win the Senate in the 2014 elections, Walker explained that Republicans must not be viewed as the 'party of no' as Democrats have tried to brand them. "As they're running for Senate, focus on the two key issues: an economic concern in our country, [and] there are still too many who are not coming through." Walker explained that Reagan's 1980 acceptance speech should be a model for the Republican Party to message for voters. "If you live in poverty, we want to lift you out,” he said. “We don't want to leave anyone behind. We need to embrace that across the board."

Thanks AstralisLux.

You are beyond befuddled if you are calling Walker a liberal. He eviscerated the public unions, balanced the budget and signed concealed carry. I just got my tax bill with a nice tax cut gratis Governor Walker.

We went through hell with him under assault by the leftists. He knows where they are coming from.

I don’t know who is pushing that Walker is in favor of amnesty. He has specifically said he is not.

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/11/19/Exclusive-Gov-Scott-Walker-I-don-t-support-amnesty-or-pathway-to-citizenship-mainstream-took-me-out-of-context

Do you think Brietbart would let him get away with equivocating on this?

He may not be the fire breathing tax partier that Cruz is, but he’s definitely our guy. Are there are bunch of OFA paid trolls that come here to kneecap every republican leader?

They really don't need to say this stuff, it turns off a portion of the base and is unnecessary.

The democrats NEVER say this kind of thing because they know they have to cover lots of different kinds of people to win.

Stupid. Just stupid.

You should see how much smaller Wisconsin public unions are after he decapitated them. The end result - smaller local governments across the state.

Raise tariffs and tariffs will be raised on us in retaliation.

You’ll end up hurting as many businesses as you help, while also hurting all consumers.

He also opposes state immigration laws because he is worried about offending hispanics.

Walker explained that Republicans must not be viewed as the 'party of no'

The party of "Yes" got us into this mess.

I want a party of "No."

Preferably "Hell No!"

Attacking unions is a safe political tactic. White Conservatives and black single mothers hate teachers.

Jeff Flake said he opposes amnesty.

Massive legal immigration is not popular amongst conservatives or swing voters.

http://hotair.com/archives/2013/11/20/scott-walker-im-not-for-amnesty-im-for-making-legal-immigration-easier/

Is there any Republican anywhere, whether running for dog catcher or president of the United States, who cops to being for “amnesty”? McCain doesn’t. Lindsey Graham doesn’t. Marco Rubio certainly doesn’t.

I … suppose that’s true. If you line up the Border Patrol at the border to hand out visas to people as they stream across, that would indeed technically reduce illegal immigration to zero.

Right on. Look at the ten commandments; eight of ten start with “thou shalt not,” i.e. no. It was the basis for the Bill of Rights.

Dead right. The reason illegal immigrants come here is to work and lift their families back in Mexico or wherever out of poverty. And if you look at the outmigration numbers, when there is no work here, many go back. The GOP or it’s replacement should be preaching the gospel of capitalism and freedom to everyone, but especially immigrants. It’s why they are here.

Shouldn't the end game be the exposure of failed and disastrous liberal programs and policies? There is so much out there to choose from, a PR campaign should be implemented that does nothing other than beat on the RATs for destroying what has made this great country just that — GREAT! Develop it, promote it, and pound it down their throats for the next eleven months and then start it all over again. The RATs are the enemy and they are basically idiots. Say it enough times in enough venues and voters will eventually get the picture.

Walker needs to tell it to the GOPe corporatists in DC who’s soul mission is to expand government from here to eternity along with the Democrats.

http://americasvoiceonline.org/blog/wisconsin-governor-scott-walker-flips-from-2010-position-says-he-would-now-push-back-against-sb-1070-style-laws/

After those considerations, Walker now says he would “push to make sure [immigration legislation] doesn’t come up” in the next legislative term.

As he told WI magazine, he believed that more Latino voters would support the GOP if Republicans spent less time on polarizing issues—like immigration.
