That’s the original concept for the C7? Much nicer lines. The rear of the factory model is too Camaro, and they’ve lost any hint of the coke-bottle shape that has been a Vette trademark since the sixties. That concept still has it.

I remember at the GM Proving Ground a test car hit a duck at about 120 mph and it smashed the carburetor.

Regardless of circumstance Im impressed at the stability of the car, largely factory spec, at 200 mph. Ive taken cars to 140 mph before and it gets a little spooky, to be quite honest, minor imperfections in the pavement set the suspension off, I really dont like any hint of instability at such speeds. So, this is impressive, as I mentioned.Yes, aerodynamics is everything. Low ground clearance, fins, balance, smooth road. You want negative pressure under the car.
Immpressive for a non super car, but this is foolish driving outside a race track.
Never happen in a Stingray.

I’m so old school I remember when the Lamborghini Countach was desperate to break it, but couldn’t. I stopped following the issue around that time.
Apparently it became a non issue since then. :-)

Thats the original concept for the C7? Much nicer lines.I suppose. I'm not sure. But I saw not long ago some new Corvette or possibly concept model that had tail lights very similar to that of the new Camaro, which I don't care for at all. They were rectangular, as opposed to the traditional 4 little circular tail lights.

The concept utilized a rear section from the doors back that draws very much from the original split window Stingray coupe, even the center rear section, with the four circular shapes of the taillamps transferred to the exhaust, and sort of implied “outrigger” blade fenders with heavy aero effects and brake ventilation. Factory lost all of that, maybe a hint of a few shapes, nonfunctional.

I had my brother’s Dodge Conquest at 142 once... and it felt like the front wheels were off the ground. Everything was floaty and surreal.
Scared me into obeying posted limits.

I used to go over 200 in my vehicle. A Cessna T210 with 285 HP cruise.I go over 66,000 MPH on my bicycle. That is, the Earth goes that speed in its orbit round the Sun. That's 18 miles per second.

I grew up just down the hill from the GM proving grounds in Milford. My buddy and I took his 72 Charger with a built 440 down that hill wide open one day, didn’t know how fast we were going but we hit a sparrow Just before Spencer Rd where the hill starts to flatten out.
We actually felt the thump pretty good for a small bird, then about 1 second later a small puff of tiny feathers came through his vents, he almost wrecked it when he started laughing hard.
It’s a wonder we ever lived to see 21...
