If they were, they would not have made a mess in the first place.

Vanity numbers do not ordinarily represent the number prefix with letter. Neither 1 nor 0 have an alphabetic representation on the phone key pad.
3 - D, E, F
1 - no alphabetic representation (but I suggest the 1 is for the one-finger salute that goes with the rest of the message)
8 - T, U, V
2 - A, B, C
5 - J, K, L
9 - W, X, Y, Z
6 - M, N, O
[U] does not have a digit, but vanity numbers often use more letters than digits to promote them.
Yes, many numbers can spell something, but try to find a toll-free 800 number that spells anything meaningful and you will see that they are in limited supply. Maybe this is just a coincidence. Maybe it was fate or providence that caused the number to have some significance. I don't claim to know, but I just like to point out that this vanity representation pretty accurately sums up the Obama attitude toward the citizens of the country who do not fall into one of the lefts protected classes.
