One of my peeves is mute instead of moot, as in That is a mute point. Why shouldn't points be mute? Isn't that less annoying than when they are talking?

“Oh contrair” gets me. So does “viola” instead of “voila” but the deadpan, phonetic “wa-la” is even worse. Loan words from French are hard, it would seem.
